Rain pelted against the window, casting a melancholic ambiance in the dimly lit room. Ilene sat at a small table seating near the window, her gaze fixated on the droplets cascading down the glass. "It's Darx!" Her neighbor said in an altered voice, "D-Darx and his friends were attacked by an ogre!"

Hearing those words, Ilene felt as if her heart had dropped into her stomach. Ilene ran towards the forest, praying to the goddess [Imris] for Darx to please be alright.

To Ilene's surprise, walking down the street that leads to her house was a blond boy whom she had never seen before, and in his arms was the **** body of Darx. Next to him was Amelia, who was crying inconsolably. Ilene thought the worst at that moment when she saw how hurt Darx was and saw Amelia cry like that.

"DARX!!" Ilene scream.

Kase carried Darx to Darx's room, followed by Ilene and Amelia. Villagers offered Ilene the potions and anything useful they had to heal Darx. Amelia used what healing magic she could, and a villager with medical experience attended Darx. It was a long afternoon, but Darx's condition improved as the hours passed. Now all that was left was to wait.

After a while, Amelia told Ilene what had happened. Oliver was also injured, but his injuries were not so serious since his shield protected him; however, Darx received a direct hit from Ogre. Amelia told Ilene in detail everything that happened and how they would have died if it hadn't been for Kase saving them.

Ilene turned around to look for Kase to thank him, but he was no longer present.

(I'll thank him next time I see him) Ilene thought.

Ilene spent the night looking out for Darx, and the next day, she didn't go hunting in the forest, as usual, to stay with Darx. Around noon Ilene heard someone knock on the door, so she got up from the chair where she was drinking tea and went to see who it was. To her surprise, when she opened the door, it was Kase, the boy who saved her son.

"Hi!" Kase said with a smile.

"Ah, you're Kase aren't you" Ilene replied.

"Yeah, I just stopped by to see how Darx was doing. I heard from Amelia that his injuries were pretty serious."

"Darx still hasn't woken up, but his condition is improving. I'm sorry I couldn't thank you yesterday for what you did. I am very thankful!"

"I'm glad he's getting better. To tell the truth, I didn't expect that something like this would happen on my first day in this village."
