Chapter 8 by Dansak Dansak

Every Man Should Have A Nice Watch

As they lay there on the bed, James tried to process what had just happened.

He’d finally lost his virginity, and in apparently epic style too. At first he’d thought the whole thing too good to be true, right up until the point where she took her clothes off, only then did he allow himself to believe. He looked down at Jessica, with her dark auburn hair splayed messily across her face, her red nails planted on his chest and her legs intertwined with his. He knew the deep and confusing emotions he was feeling right now were down to the endorphin rush of sex, he’d researched it enough to know that much. But knowing why he felt this way didn’t help clear his head. He was trying to think of something clever or interesting to say rather than just lay there in silence. But nothing came to mind.

So he planted a tender kiss on her forehead and said, “Thank you.”

James wasn’t the only confused one on that bed. Jessica had not expected such good sex his first time out, well, technically his second time. She had thought to break him in gently and perhaps have him visit once or twice a week. What she was feeling now was rather unexpected, she wanted to keep him close to her, she wanted more of that delicious cock.

“So um, James.”

“Yes.”

“How was your first time?”

“I’m not sure how to describe it, words like awesome and fantastic don’t seem to be enough. I’d dreamt of losing my virginity a thousand times, and never once did I dream it would be this good.”

“I’m glad you enjoyed it so much. I presume that means you’d like to do it again?”

“What now? Oh, I’m not sure that I can…”

Jessica giggled, “No silly, I mean another time, maybe later tonight if you’re up for it, or tomorrow?”

“Oh, I see. Yeah, of course I do, and you know, I want to keep learning all the stuff you want to show me. But tomorrow I’ve got a shift that starts at five in the morning, I need to get home for an early night.”

“Five am? Oof, that’s harsh.”

“Tell me about it. I finish at one o’clock though, I could come over afterwards.”

“Yes, let’s do that,” she said, “Right then, I think we should shower and then I’ll make lunch, are you hungry?”

“Starved.”

“Me too, sex will do that to you.”

Jessica peeled herself off James then sat up and threw her legs over the side of the bed. As she stood up she winced and screwed her face up.

“Ouch.”

“Are you okay?” Asked James, sitting up.

“Yeah, I’m fine, just a little sore down there.”

“Oh shit, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you I…”

Jessica smiled and leaned over and kissed him, “Shhhh, don’t be sorry, this kind of sore I like.”

“You do?”

“It’s a bit like going to the gym and having such a hard session that you ache the next day, it’s an oddly nice feeling.”

“Ah, I see, well so long as I didn’t hurt you.”

“James, you can do that to me as often as you like, okay?”

“Be careful, I might take you up on that,” he said with a smile and gave her a quick kiss.

“I’m hoping you will,” she smiled at him. “Right, I’m going to jump in the shower. We can have an erotic shower together another time, I need to do some very unerotic cleaning up, I’m leaking like a rusty tap here. You can use the main bathroom just down the hall.”

“Okay,” he said, getting off the bed.

I really need to tell him to stop saying okay all the time she thought as she walked into her shower.

While she was soaking under the water Jessica found herself pondering the immediate future. Introspection was never her strong point, but even she could recognise that she didn’t want James to leave. But he had a job to go and… ‘hmmm, now there’s a thought’ she said aloud and finished her shower as quickly as she could.

Half an hour later Jessica was in the kitchen preparing lunch when James came down, his hair was still damp and he obviously had not found the hairbrush in the bathroom cupboard. She didn’t say anything though, one thing at a time she thought.

“Hey, how was your shower?” she asked.

“Great, your shower is awesome.”

“They’re good, aren’t they? I’m doing us both a cheese omelette and salad if that suits you?”

“Uh-huh, it sounds nice. Um, did you need me to look at your phone?”

“Oh, I’d forgotten about that, yes, please.”

She went and got her phone from the side, punched in the pin code and handed it to him.

“It’s running really slowly and keeps crashing when I’m online. Do you think I’ve downloaded a virus?”

“Not sure, let me take a look.”

Jessica went back over to the counter and broke half a dozen eggs in a bowl, by the time she’d finished beating them James got up and handed her the phone.

“All done, it should run fine now.”

“Really?” she said, tapping the phone and loading up an internet page. “That was quick, what was wrong with it?”

“The cached data needed emptying and a dodgy app was eating up storage space which caused the slowdowns. Be careful what apps you download, the shopping one you had is well known for being corrupted and mining for data and…”

“James, how much do you know about IT?”

“A bit, why?”

“Are phones a speciality of yours?”

“Not particularly.”

“Let me ask this another way, what’s your strongest IT skill?”

“Web design. I did a project for a charity once when I was at school, they were very pleased with what I did. I’ve done a few more since then, for some of my online friends and stuff but nothing major. Why?”

“Which charity did you do the website for?”

“The Kidz trust.”

Jessica tapped the name into her browser and started scrolling through the website.

“James, this is a brilliant website, and you did all this?”

“Uh-huh, but I was at school when I did that, I could do it a lot better now. Why are you so interested in this stuff?”

“Because I think you could earn a good living doing web design.”

“Maybe, but when I did that one at school I had access to their computers, I can’t even afford a basic laptop let alone the type I need to do that sort of stuff. And where would I get clients from? And besides all that I know nothing about business.”

“Hmmmm.”

“What?” he asked.

“Nothing, let me think about it. Anyway, why don’t you relax, I’ll finish off lunch.”

A short while later they were eating at the breakfast bar, both hungry and eagerly attacking their food.

“Erm, you’re a bit quiet, is everything okay?” he asked.

“Sorry James, my mind is just pondering a few things.”

“Oh, like what?”

“You mainly.”

“What about me?”

“When is your next day off?”

“I’m working for the next six days in a row.”

“Hmmmm.”

“You keep doing that, asking me stuff then going quiet.”

“I’m sorry. I’m trying to think how you and I should proceed from here. To be blunt, I want to see you more frequently than your work schedule will allow.”

“I’d like that too, but I need to work.”

“I understand. Why don’t I drop you home and maybe I can pick you up after work tomorrow? By the time I see you I’ll know a bit more about our next step.”

“I’d definitely like to see you tomorrow, but you don’t have to drop me home, I can easily get a bus and…”

“Don’t worry, I won’t come to the door, I can drop you at the end of your road if you like?”

“That’s very thoughtful, thank you.”

The journey home was far more pleasant than the one there, James was chatty and they both laughed and joked about how surprisingly good the day had been. Then Jessica pulled the car into a parking space quite suddenly.

“Why are you stopping?”

“I’ve got an idea, come on,” she said, getting out of the car.

Jessica led James a few doors down the street from where she had parked and into a jeweller’s shop.

“Why are we in here?” He asked.

“You need a watch.”

“No I don’t.”

“Do you own a watch?”

“No.”

“Well, then you need one.”

James was about to protest again when the lady behind the counter said, “May I help you?”

“Yes, we’re looking for a gentleman’s watch,” Jessica looked at James, “Do you see anything you like?”

“I’m not sure, I don’t really know much about watches.” He quickly scanned the counter for the cheapest one, which was a forty-five-pound Casio digital watch.

“That one looks nice.”

“No James, come on now, we can do better than that. Okay, let’s look at that one…um, that one… and that one to begin with,” she said to the assistant.

James’ eyes nearly fell out of his head when he saw the prices of the ones Jessica had selected. Around half an hour later they’d whittle the choices down to either a Tag Heuer or a Breitling, although nearly all the input had been from Jessica and the sales assistant.

“Come on James, which do you prefer?” She asked him.

“I’m not sure, I mean, I don’t really need a watch and…”

“If you don’t pick one of them I’ll buy them both.”

James went red-faced, “Okay, okay, you win. The Tag Heuer is nicer, I like the red dial.”

Jessica smiled at the assistant, “We’ll take that one please.”

“Certainly madam, would you like it gift-wrapped?”

“No thank you, he’s going to wear it now,” she nudged James, “Go on then, put it on, it’s yours now.”

James slipped the watch on and stood admiring it while Jessica paid the assistant.

When they got back in the car James looked at her and said, “Why did you do that?”

“I wanted to buy you a gift. Every man should have a nice watch.”

“But that watch cost more than I make in a month.”

“Well, I’d get used to it if I were you.”

“What does that mean?”

“When I pick you up tomorrow we’re going shopping.”

“We are?”

“Uh-huh.”

“What for?”

“If you’re going to be staying over at my place more often you’re going to need some clothes and toiletries.”

“I could bring some stuff from home.”

“What, and waste the chance for a bit of shopping? Oh come on, it’ll be fun.”

“Jess I can’t…”

She turned and kissed him, “Do you trust me?”

“Yes.”

“Then let me think about this some more tonight and when I see you tomorrow we’ll talk about the future. And I promise, we won’t do anything you don’t want to do. How does that sound?”

“It sounds good, thank you. And please don’t think I’m not grateful, I love the watch, it’s just so much, I’ve never had a gift like that before, I didn’t know how to react.”

“Don’t mention it. Now then, let's get you home.”
