Ed steps into the kitchen to find his mom with Cory and Mason

Ed stepped into the kitchen clad only in his towel where his mom was sitting with Cory and Mason over glasses of cheap red wine.

His mom refused to look at him and instead stared at her glass of wine. They had reaffirmed the strongest of bonds only an hour ago and just as hope had returned that together they might find a way to keep the family home Ed had compounded his disastrous return by possibly creating new life with a married woman.

"Mom.... I...." Ed tried to find the right words as he looked between Mason and Cory for help but neither could offer any.

"I think that I'll leave you to it, this is a family matter" Mason stated before standing and walking towards the door. She paused as she passed Ed, took his hand and spoke to him quietly "we all make errors of judgement Ed, don't be too harsh on yourself. We were all young once, even your mom. Just remember you're always welcome to visit my home any time of day or night." With a final reassuring squeeze of his hand she left Holly's home.

Holly held her head in her hands while Cory stared at Ed's crotch with an inappropriate grin.

"It's really not the end of world, it might be a false alarm or not even be his" Cory stated.

"Let's hope so... I'm too young to be a grandma" Holly replied.

Cory reached out and squeezed Holly's arm to attempt to reassure her "You'd be a definite GILF, but we know that we are strong enough to have happy lives in the hardest of situations. That we as individuals can survive and grow, it's how we overcome challenges that defines who we are."

Holly turned to Cory and they had a whispered conversation that despite its intensity Ed couldn't hear yet it was obvious from their body language that they were arguing.

The conversation stopped, Holly finished her glass of wine and stood up looking directly at her near naked son for the first time since discovering his latest disappointment "I love you Ed, you'll be my son always and forever. I'm just a bit overwhelmed by everything that's happened today. I need time to digest everything." Holly straightened her clothes "I'm going to go drive around to look for Idris. "

Ed turned to look at Cory "How much has she had to drink?"

Cory waved a hand dismissively while Holly bristled at the question "how dare you be so insolent after everything you've done. I'm the parent, and you're the child. I look after you and not the other way round."

"But mom..." Ed began.

"But nothing! Just let me have some time to myself, I need to understand what's happened" Holly pleaded.

"Where are you going to look?" Demanded Ed.

Holly flapped her arms in frustration "I don't know, around i guess. Don't worry I'll drive slowly."

"I'll come with you to help spot him" offered Ed.

"I think you've done enough for one day" snapped Holly.Ed

Ed looked towards Cory for support but she only shrugged to communicate that further arguing with Holly would only serve to make things worse.

Holly left before Ed could argue further and Ed watched her leave. He looked back to Cory who offered the bottle towards Ed "join me?" she asked her best friends towel clad teenage son.
