Going up to meet Fergus Firetail when not a part of a larger group for the first time is somewhat nerve-wracking. It's a bit intimidating, because he is the very picture of the kind of man you had hoped to meet in House Leontes. Not only a master of conjurations but also the most practiced duelist, who sets some of his time aside to help the more novice students learn how to defend themselves and their honor. At first you'd almost hoped to pass on your request to him second-hand, but as it turned out he was surprisingly available for young Leontes who wanted to schedule a brief meeting with him a few days in advance.

But then again, there is something comforting in knowing that he's so far out of your league that you can't be all that nervous. Maybe... maybe next term when you're more established in six months time or so you might worry about making him really notice you. But for now, there is a comforting layer of formality between you.

And so there you are, making polite conversation with the head of Leontes, him looking through his records and giving you some standard commendations for the merits you've gotten and distinguishing yourself in conjurations. He says that some (unspecified) upperclassmen have been speaking highly of you, too, which makes you blush a little in spite of yourself. A man of modest stature but lithe, nimble limbs, your Housemaster wears a gold-trimmed red doublet and hose with a prominent codpiece.

You start cautiously advancing the idea of organizing a little outdoor expedition for some of the younger students to enjoy some 'fresh air' after the middle of the term. This is the kind of request that is made pretty frequently, and Fergus doesn't ask too many probing questions, thank goodness. But he still seems to be considering a few things, and he's checking the schedules to see if any other Leontes have requested events for that same weekend. You start to wonder if you've had the right idea, or if he is already suspecting what you really have in mind. Though you're feeling nervous, you remain silent as the handsome youthful man looks you up and down thoughtfully, stroking his close-trimmed whiskers and tugging his codpiece straight.
