Chapter 12 by Gapdude Gapdude

Drive to the Lunch Date

Luckily, I have had experience driving since I was able to get my licence immediately when I turned 16. But in my normal body I sit much lower and further back since its cooler and I was much taller. Now because of my smaller physique, I had to sit much higher and closer to the steering wheel like a stereotypical female driver. I got into the car throwing my purse on the passenger seat while I simultaneously closed the car door and buckled my seatbelt. I quickly grabbed my mom’s phone to message Kathy and Kimberley that I was on my way. Every time the phone scanned my face and let me in it brought a smile to my face. After I sent the message, I spent a few moments going through the phone again glancing at emails and other notifications before grabbing the restaurant address from her group chat with her friends.

This chat was group very useful, since it gave me the full names of Kathy and Kim, as well as a hint of their personalities. I even went a step further by quickly stalking them on social media and scanned through their pages and posts to get some more information on any trips, events or announcements and any close people in their lives. My heart was racing with anticipation. Not only was I about to go out in public as someone else—a woman! —for the first time, but I was also about to meet up with people I was supposed to know. True, mom hadn't seen them in years, but still.

Just before I put the car in reverse, I took a deep breath and squinted in the bright light of day. I grabbed my mom’s oversized dark brown leopard print sunglasses from its case and put them on.

I put the address of the restaurant into the cars GPS and took one more deep breath before putting the car in reverse. I smiled slightly knowing that if I managed to get into an accident, between my new looks and people’s lower expectations from female drivers, I would be able to get away with less guilt. As I looked in my mirrors before it took my foot off the brakes, I saw mom's gorgeous face looked out of it; her mouth set in a little worry line. I made myself relax, forcing my mouth up into a smile. Then took my foot off the brake and followed the phone's directions to the meeting place for lunch.
