Downstairs

You make your way to the end of the hall and begin to head downstairs. As you take each step, you admire the small selection of pictures hanging on the surrounding walls.

Photographs are one of the few luxuries in your home. One of the local merchants acquired a photobox from a faraway trader. Due to the isolated nature of your village though, the materials necessary to create pictures captured by the photobox are scarce. Nevertheless, pictures are a popular commodity in the village, and your family is no exception.

You briefly reminisce at each captured memory, including a recent picture from your last birthday. You, your mother, and your childhood friend Emma are shown eating a fruity cake, a common rare treat, in the downstairs kitchen of your home.

Finally, you arrive at the foot of the stairs, and are in the first floor dwelling of your home. There is a small kitchen to the side, with food supplies, and a basic sink with water.

You're still thirsty, but the call to adventure feels louder than ever before. Should you stay or should you go?
