Chapter 3
by WinstonSmith
Should You Punish Samuel? Or, do you let Samuel get away with it?
Don't punish Samuel
Although Samuel might be a problem in the future, you don't think that his behavior deserves a reprimand now.
Besides, Samuel is one of the few people you know you can trust. Punishing him could lead to trouble further down the road. You tell the girl to not take Samuel's actions too seriously. Your response clearly shocks her but she is much too shy to argue with your decision.
Only minutes after she has left your tipi, another person walks in--Samuel. He is smiling nervously at you, as if he has just been caught doing something inappropriate and is wondering if you know. He likely saw the girl from earlier enter your tipi.
You give a facial expression that clearly indicates you are aware of his transgression. However, because you don't reprimand him, his nervous smile becomes genuine. He is relieved that he won't be getting in any trouble.
"There is a small camp nearby," Samuel begins. "Some of the men are wondering if we should raid it." He makes a gesture to show his indifference to the plan. "Gloria suggests that we should make friendly contact with the camp. You know how she is."
Gloria is another one of your trusted advisers. She took a large role in convincing the women that you deserve to be their leader.
"And what do you think?" You ask.
Samuel shrugs. Perhaps he is cautious about stating his own opinion as he has just gotten away with groping one of the women and doesn't want to push his luck. "We don't know if the camp is friendly or not. I think it would be best to just charge in there while we have the element of surprise."
You know that attacking another tribe is the easiest way to get as much resources as possible. However, battle between two camps can be costly. You worry about risking the lives of your people.
Do you attack the camp or do you make friendly contact with them? Alternatively, you could just ignore them.
