Chapter 9
by
Thorn_
Is there a fight on your hands?
Don't give them the time to attack first.
As far as they can tell. it's with no forewarning before you move past the knight and hone in on the robed man before bringing the axe down. There's not any time for him to use any powers and he's finished with the hit. "What the fuck?" The knight has to ask the question while he turns around to engage you, as the archer girl readies her bow against the twin version of yourself.
"They're enemies, dumbass. But I thought this was-" She doesn't get to finish her thought as the lance strikes through her. None of his support was made for close range and with them already out of the way, it's a two on one battle. His sword strikes your shoulder and it cuts deep, but all you can think about is finishing off the enemy so you ignore it while delivering another axe swing that connects. With the pressed attack on both sides, he falls quickly enough.
Level up!
Learned War Cry(1/4): Boost self and party speed by 5% and raise damage by 10% for fifteen seconds.
As soon as those words echo in your head, the cut on the shoulder seems to have already vanished along with the pain. A new ability is going to be helpful. However even with a new level and power, it's obvious that you won't be able to win every engagement. Especially where a knight who couldn't have been that much stronger than you, almost easily killed you. Still. With a new level comes more experience.
"Useless, getting into fights we can barely win. If we only get in fights we will win, we live longer." The revelation is spoken out loud and she agrees with it. "Going to take time but better than being dead." Her face scrounges for a second as she thinks about something. "Both of us attacking the same target works way better. What if...we only attack when there's one so they're fighting two?"
An answer is not needed. It's far from fair and it's frowned upon by some warrior cultures to attack enemies in what is considered a coward move. Your old tribe for instance. However. It's impossible to say how much time was spent doing things their way and how many times that failed. The one time, that something other than you died, was by random chance. If you're going to get anywhere, it needs to be with actual thought.
"We should do that." It's not the same as being afraid of a fight. It's having some sense about what fights that you get yourself into. Once you finally manage to rack up a body count and build some power, you really will be able to have that savage power of a true berserker.
A true berserker. Where the lines between being an actual human and a feral beast are completely blurred. The ones that won't ever slow down their blood lust fueled rampage, no matter what they are hit by. You're going to be like that.
Eventually. But first, it's going to take patience.
How does the hunt for an easy enemy go?

Game Monster
From Creep to Boss
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
