Discuss Tschau's hidden past... (Time -1)

You'd managed to learn a lot about each of the Girls by this point. You'd collected info by spying, by interrogation, and even by word of mouth from other agents. However, with how close you'd managed to get to your agent, you wondered if you might be able to hear something new from the horse's mouth. Namaste had told you that you'd need to learn each agent's history if you wanted to really understand the danger you were in. She'd also told you not to trust in other people's testimony... but you really had hope that your fellow agents were people you could trust. You decided to take the risk and attempt to extract some sensitive info straight from the source.

When you told Tschau you wanted to know her history, she raised one eyebrow skeptically, then returned her gaze to her phone. "I'm the youngest Goodbye Girl. I don't have much of a history... You don't need to hear about the time before that."

Surprising her, you reached out to grab her narrow wrist with one hand and pull her hand away from her phone. You caught her eyes with your own and told her that this was serious... You knew something had happened in her past that turned her into the agent she was today. {if Tschau's History = 1}With an air of gravity, you told Tschau that you'd heard from a certain source about the CEDIT Russia incident. You needed to know more about that time and what had happened to her, in order to trust her and work as her handler. {endif}With resolution, you ordered her to share her history.

For a moment, the ninja looked as though she was considering pulling her hand away and drawing her sword... but she soon calmed down, lowering her pink-hued eyes to stare at her feet. "I knew you were curious. I've seen you trying to gather hints about it. You don't cover your tracks very well. You're not a master of stealth, Ciao..." {if Stealth Skill = 1}

Hearing that hurt... You'd been referred to as a master of stealth many times in your old assignment. Still, you nodded and told her to continue.{endif} Tschau knit her eyebrows, then grabbed hold of one of her fingers. As you watched with curiosity, she pulled free the pad covering her knuckles, then the cloth bandaging inside. Beneath that was some more metallic armor...

... Only, it wasn't armor. What was beneath was part of her... each finger ended in a final metal digit, where the old ones had been removed and replaced. "It's not just here... It's also my legs. Even my insides. After I fell during a mission, I was gathered as part of an illegal experiment by CEDIT Russia, before they were disbanded and replaced. They put me on life support and carried out cybernetic modifications, taking me apart to install new pieces. They wanted to create an augmented soldier... So they modified all of their subjects in different ways. Most of them didn't survive those procedures. Of the few that did survive that mad science experiment, 90% of those were killed in the field as they faced the challenge of coping with unfamiliar equipment... or simply went mad from the lack of control in their own bodies. CEDIT Russia could turn their own bodies against them. If... If they were still in that base... With their machines... They could control me..."

The ninja's voice shook as she closed her eyes with a pained expression, partially hidden by the half-mask. The metallic ends of her fingers clenched into a tight, trembling fist. "CEDIT is supposed to stand for justice... The world's justice. International justice, agreed upon by the world. If rogue agents act under the name of CEDIT to commit such atrocities... They cannot be forgiven. Not ever. I know there are still scientists out there who haven't received their proper punishment... I'll kill them all with my blade...!" Her pink eyes seemed to take on a bloodshot, red tint as she looked up at you, from a full head's difference in height.

You mused that it seemed like they'd gotten their perfect soldier after all, they just hadn't been able to survive to use her. Thinking a little further... It was pretty fishy that CEDIT had ended up with her as an agent in the end, even if it was now the international body rather than Russia specifically...

Still, one thing didn't make sense. Her implants... how were they maintained and repaired? Did anyone in CEDIT have the right mixture of clearance and intelligence to handle something like that?

"... I handle the repairs myself." She turned her eyes to one side, avoiding your own. "Now leave... I'm done talking about it."

Somehow, that answer didn't ring true. However, you thought you'd have to press her on it another time. You thanked her for being open with you.

"... It's not easy for me to trust anyone, Ciao. I was betrayed by my own organization. Don't neglect your duties and don't neglect your responsibility to think. We have to dispense justice together... And we can't let anyone get in our way. We can't hesitate... Even to turn our blade against CEDIT, if they happen to be the evil ones."

With those ominous words reverberating in your head, you left Tschau brooding in the darkness.
