Shall we delve a little deeper?
Dhampirs
Dhampirs, referred to by the half-brethren as “thin-bloods”, are an oddity. It is true that Vampires from the progenitor and other true Vampire clans can give live birth to other Vampires or assist a worthy mortal through the proper rituals to become a true member, it is usually discouraged to get into situation that creates a Dhampir.
For a Dhampir is nothing more than a half-Vampire, a crossbreed of the blood liches with other creatures. The other half that makes a Dhampir is inconsequential, all that matters is the Vampire half, which is usually the more dominate half of the traits.
There isn’t much to discuss of a Dhampir, as it shares many similarities with their Vampire parent. The differences are significant enough to talk about, though.
Namely, Dhampirs do not feed off of life essence, thus it does not gain power as it feeds. However, while it can sustain itself off of regular food, drinking blood does give the Dhampir a boost akin to a supercharged adrenaline rush, a temporary awakening of its latent Vampire heritage.
Other differences come from a dilution of their Vampire parental traits, their superhuman and magical inclinations being watered down. They are also **** to poisons and diseases as well. With this, the weaknesses of their Vampire parents are reduced as well.
They are not bothered by curatives, water is not harmful, and they can walk through the harsh rays of the sun facing only a mild discomfort. Silver and holy magic is still a bane to them, though.
A thing to note before we end the lecture, is that a Dhampir is missing the one thing his parents covet most in in life. A Dhampir is not immortal, and will eventually die of old age.
Granted, it is still considered a long life, greatly outliving the mortals that make up their other parent. But they are not blessed with the immortality that the Vampires enjoy having.
They also bare no love from their Vampire parents. They are mongrels only worth being a **** if nothing else, and is often the case that a Dhampir is tossed out from their clans, so as to avoid controversies in their courts and brethren for trying to weaken the bloodline.
It is theorized that it is possible for a Dhampir to be born from the union of a Vampire and a Demon or a Devil. If such were the case, may it never be, one can assume the Dhampir can maintain the need for life essence and growing power upon devouring life essence, as well as keeping their immortality. Though, it is wise to not think long on the concept of such a perfect union of these hated enemies...a union of apex vile evils.
End of lecture.
