Darrien
Darrien was human. Normally that is not a distinction needed to be made but it has become increasingly necessary in his world. Darrien didn’t understand why his mother was nervous when the new neighbors moved in. “Mom! Do you think they have a kid my age?!” he had asked excitedly, not so covertly peering out of the living room window at the moving vans parked in the cul de sac.
“I’m not sure, sweetie. We’ll have to wait and see.” She bit at her fingernails nervously. The moving vans had depictions of various wildlings on the sides happily traversing the globe. It was odd and more than a little frightening to see even a picture of a werewolf smiling, even if he carried a cardboard box marked kitchen.
“Do you think he’ll like baseball?!”
“I’m not sure, sweetie.” She repeated, unmoving from her position in the living room.
Finally after twenty minutes a small dark blue van pulled into the driveway and Darrien bounced with excitement. "Mom! They're here!" He shouted.
