Dark Arcanist

You decide to play it safe and stick to what you know. You select Dark Arcanist.

As the option flickers away, you feel power course through you. Is it your body changing? Looking down, something is definitely changing. Your robe is distorting, becoming more elegant. You also feel a rush of mana pour into you, filling your mana pool beyond what it should be able to contain as it expands, your fingertips almost tingling with power.

Then... it stops. You inspect yourself to see what changed.

Your clothing is definitely fancier. Your robe is still purple, but the cloth looks more expensive and it has a black trim with dark grey arcane symbols embroidered into it. Tugging at your hood, you see that it has the same style going on, a black outline surrounding the already black void of your face. There are also a few additional details, like a piece of cloth wrapping around your shoulders forming pointy shoulderpads. They slope a little, but they still make you look a little cooler. You also stick your foot out, noticing that you have new silk shoes with pointed tips. ...Hopefully those won't make it harder to run.

Unfortunately, there appears to be no change to your body. At all. Not an inch of height, not an inch of dick. Ah well... Time to open your stats and see what changed in that department.

Blood Ritual: You gain MP equal to 50% of the target's HP lost for 16 seconds.
Dark Influence (Passive): Monsters of level 15 or lower are more inclined to obey your orders due to your arcane wisdom.

Ability Gained!
Vampiric Healing: Transfer 5 HP/sec from one target to another. One of the targets can be yourself.

...Wait, what the fuck?! Like, sure, cool, your Sinister Grip is stronger and you have a minor healing ability like you just asked for, but overall you've been NERFED!

You groan in annoyance and slump into a sitting position on the ground. This game really hates you. You work so hard to get this far, and your reward is to be screwed over by what you thought would be a huge boost to your power. Maybe you chose the objectively wrong option? Could you pull up the menu again? You make an attempt, looking around your stats for a "regret" button, but there's nothing. You are stuck like this.

"Dude, what happened to your outfit?"

Your musings are broken by Morwyn looking down at you, probably having heard your annoyed groan and turned to check up on you, only to discover your transformation.

"Oh, uh... I just, like... got promoted. Into a new class."

Her eyes widen. "Whoa, I didn't know monsters could do that... Cool!"

"Yeah..." you mutter. "Really cool."

She raises an eyebrow. You think you can spot genuine concern in her eyes. "You don't seem too excited."

"Yeah, well, you see... It was kind of a shit promotion. This class is overall worse than mine. I have almost the exact same abilities except most of them are weaker now."

"Huh... Yeah, that sucks. But... maybe it won't last? Maybe your current class starts out weaker, but gains more power every level? A power curve thing. In a few levels you'll probably be back to where you were, and beyond."

You hadn't thought about that. Mostly because you were busy pitying yourself. "You know... that might be it. Thanks, that... actually makes me feel better about it."

She smiles down at you. "That's the spirit. Come on now, I'm all healed up and out of ingredients, so we're going to find something else to do."

You stand back up and follow her along with a bit of a spring in your step, once more happy about your growth spurt. Even though it wasn't literal.

...Also, what's this fuzzy feeling inside you? Something not relating to your progress. Could it be Morwyn being nice to you? Are you in fact growing attached to her? Nah, that can't be it.
