Constance (1630)

Constance had been married to an abusive idiot for years, and now that she was free there was no way she was going to waste the opportunity. She loved d'Artagnan, more than anyone else in the world, but one of the reasons was that they were compatible in all the most important ways -- including their abhorrence of monogamy.

As she walked to the Garrison, Constance looked around at the streets of Paris, dirty and crowded. So many people living constrained by the Church and the King and the overwhelming expectations of their neighbours. She would be discreet, for her own safety, but she would never live by any man's rules again.

When she got to the Garrison, Constance made sure the big wooden doors on the entrance gate were closed against unwanted attention, winking at Hubert who was standing guard. He knew to only let Musketeers in when Constance was visiting. She looked around the courtyard to assess who would be her first target.
