Close encounters.

Sheriff Emmy Lou was feeling extremely pissed off, several vehicles full of airforce personnel had arrived at the landing site. With them were a pair of dark suited men who could only be federal agents of some kind. Although the men stood quietly in the background Emmy Lou had noticed that the senior air **** officer never made any decision until he'd looked at the two suits and received a nod. After she and Bobby Lee had geiger counters run all over them and had been pronounced clean, she had been politely but firmly ordered to search an area several miles away. Any arguements or questions she had were met with vague assertions that national security was at stake.

Emmy Lou and Bobby Lee drove away from the crash site in their police cars. A couple of miles down the track, when she was sure they were out of sight of the airforce and the feds, Emmy Lou pulled over to discuss what she had seen with her deputy. She told him about the empty seats and the strange writing she had seen.

"Aliens!" Bobby Lee avowed. "Sure as shoot. We got a whole troop of little green bastards running round Custer county."

"I hardly think that's likely Bobby Lee." Emmy Lou said. "It could be chimps, I heard NASA and the Russkies and the Chinese use them on spacecraft all the time."

"Huh!" Bobby Lee snorted. "Commie Chinese chimps on the loose is just as bad as aliens."

Both police officers jumped as a scurrying noise came from the brush a few yards behind them. Emmy Lou used hand signals to tell her deputy to go round to the right while she went left. If there was something there and the noise hadn't simply been an armadillo they'd catch whatever it was between them. Bobby Lee pulled his Franchi shotgun out the cruiser and padded off quietly and disappeared into the bushes.

Sheriff McCoy moved carefully through the bushes her pistol at the ready. Up ahead she could hear the rustle of leaves. There! Something moved behind that bush. She moved round till she could see that a creature of some kind was hiding in the brush. She had to get closer, she'd look a fool if she started firing or shouting for it to surrender and it turned out to be a coyote. Taking a deep breath she stepped around the bush. Behind the bush were two sheep. Emmy Lou chuckled to herself and reholstered her pistol.

"Boy, am I getting spooked." She muttered.

The sheriff was about to head back to her car when she noticed the strange device attached to the foreleg of one of the sheep. She knelt down to examine it. Getting a firm grip she was going to attempt to pull it off when the bush beside her began to ripple.

"What the heck." Emmy Lou cried.

The bush was now a weird creature with tentacles. It pointed one of it's tentacles at the sheriff and a red flash burst from the device and Emmy Lou slumped to the floor ****. The sheep with the device on it's leg transformed as well and together the two aliens grabbed the sheriff and dragged her deeper into the brush.
