Choose a Chest

I pick up the book and wander over to the chests eyeballing each one closely but I know that just staring at them isn't going to make my decision any easier. I approach the fire chest making the others disappear into thin air.

I look around again in confusion before shrugging and kick the chest open blinding me briefly. I feel a flame surround me and brand a spell circle onto the back of my right hand. I grit my teeth hissing in pain as I slide to my knees holding my wrist.

The flame slowly dissipates as I see a long handled spear floating in front of me, I slowly grip it and in my mind I see a series of fighting styles using the spear. As soon as the visions ended, and a splitting headache, I stand up and walk through the arch arriving in a torched village that seems it was only recently attacked.

I slowly look around, oddly there seems to be no bodies just an odd black sand covering the ground with a mix of weapons. I wander around until I come to the center of the village where I come across three caged carts. The first has a woman with cat like ears, tail and fur covering most of her body, the second has a centaur woman but she also has a long spiraled horn coming from the center of her forehead, and the third contains another woman that is heavily chained along her arms and legs are thick green scales and curled up around her ankles is a long thick tail.

All three of them look miserable and tired whether from running, fighting or even from hiding I couldn't tell. I see nine shadow-like figures come from the nearby forest and begin to hitch horses to the carts quickly. Judging by the speed of them working I could tell I would only have enough time to save one of them.
