Chapter 12 - Twists

"Daddy, can I use a car to drive into town later?" Helen asked when she walked into the kitchen with her dirty cup and plate from breakfast.

"Sure honey," he replied still reading his newspaper. "Do you want do some shopping?"

"No, I have other plans," she replied.

I looked at George feeling worried she was going to see the solicitors in town.

"What plans are those honey?" he asked.

"I want to see that lawyer erm... what's his name? The one that handled all of Grandpa's legal affairs," she replied stunning us both.

"Oh, do you mean Mr. Clark?" He asked nonchalantly.

"Yes, that's his name," she said. "I want to talk to him about what was in my grandpa's will."

"What about his will?" he asked putting his newspaper down to drink some coffee.

"You know Daddy it just doesn't seem right to me that he should leave all his estate to the university instead of his close family. You know I just wondered if his poor old mind was right when he put his will together," she said.

"Baby I think you're right. I think you ought to go into town and see them then," George replied shocking me that he should encourage her.

"In the meantime, can I please have some money to buy some new clothes?" she asked.

"Sure, would five hundred dollars be enough?" he asked and when she nodded, he handed her a pile of fifties and twenties from his wallet.

She took the money and rushed off to spend it. George surprised me by picking up his phone and dialing a number.

"Aren't you worried what she might discover?" I asked.

"No because I'll have to take care of her now," he said. "Hi Josh, I have a special job for you."

He then spelt out that he wanted Josh to deal with Helen his daughter. He agreed to pay the thug 10,000 dollars for what was needed. I felt that George wanted it to look like she'd been in a tragic accident.

"George maybe there's another way?" I pleaded.

"What other way can there be?" he asked putting the phone down. "She'll find out that we're trying to defraud her and that could lead to us going to prison for a long time. Besides it's too late now and Josh will take care of it."

"Well, couldn't you just pay her off?" I asked but without conviction. "George I really don't like the idea of getting mixed up in this."

"You're not going to get mixed up in anything," George said adamantly. "If anyone's going to do anything it's just gonna be me. I've taken pretty good care of you up until now and I won't spoil that. So yeah, I guess my dear daughter Helen could just have a little bad luck for a change."

"How will he do it?" I asked.

George though just ignored my question and asked me to get my coat.

"Why?" I asked.

"We'll go into town now too," he said pulling out the keys to his other car from his pocket. "I want to meet someone in a bar."

We headed into town and walked into the bar half an hour later. George ordered a couple of drinks from the barman for us. As we sat George nodded in the direction of the barman, "That's the guy. I will go and speak to him."

"Who?" I asked.

"The big guy behind the bar," he said. "It won't be the first time I've used him. I've seen the results of some of his work in hospital. I will be back soon."

I sat patiently waiting for George to return. When he did and sat down he looked nervous.

"How did you find out about him?" I asked.

"You forget I'm a doctor, so I followed up on things. When you work in a busy hospital you soon learn what there is to know," replied George sipping his whisky.

I repeated my earlier question, "How's he going to do it?"

"I didn't ask him how he's going to do it. I just told him that it must be quick and painless," George said.

"Shit I don't want be involved with something like this," I said.

"Jane you won't be and don't forget Helen's still my baby," he said sounding quite sad.

"After what we've done together lately, I'm also your baby now," I replied.

"Yeah, you're my baby too. Come here baby," he said, and we kissed passionately. I was unhappy about his plans for Helen, but I decided that I wasn't at risk if I didn't get involved in what was his decision. Just then a bar fight broke out and George decided it was time to leave as Josh came around the bar to easily deal with the fight. I didn't feel like talking to him about what he had planned for Helen. We went home and he had me sleep in his bed as Helen slept in my usual bedroom.

He fucked me again a couple of times that night and I rubbed my clit forlornly hoping that I'd get an orgasm. He also told me several times that he loved me. However, I was not in the mood to confidently trust him.

The next day after I persuaded her that it might be fun to fool George, Helen and I swapped places. I also figured that if I did that, she'd not be able to see the lawyer about the will. So, pretending to be me, she went with George up to the lake to swim and relax while I stayed at home to cook all of us a nice dinner.

Around an hour after they left, I answered a loud knock at the back door, and it turned out to be Josh the barman. That really scared me as he was the man George had said had been tasked to deal with Helen. Only I was worried he'd now confuse me for her.

"Hi," he said. "George asked me over to look at some leaking water pipes in the basement. Can you show me where the problem is?"

"I thought you were a bar man?" I asked.

"Yes, but I'm also a good plumber so where is the basement?"

"Sorry I'm not sure where the door to the basement is though," I said feeling scared that he was there to kill me as I was playing Helen.

"Is George around?" he then asked.

"No sorry, he's gone with his girlfriend Jane to the lake to cool off," I replied. We walked into the hallway, and I guessed right, what doorway in the hall was the access to the cellar. "This one," I declared opening it to check.

"Excellent," he said, and I switched on the cellar light for him. "Can you show me the leaking pipes?"

"I've never been down in the cellar before, so I wouldn't know where to look," I replied scared not wishing to go down the steep steps alone with this big man.

"I'll take a look on my own then," he replied, and he set off down the steps hauling his heavy plumbing tools.

I then called George and I told him that someone had arrived to fix the water pipes.

"Thanks Helen," he said obviously not knowing that we'd duped him with our swap of identities. "I'll be home in about an hour. Jane is just having a last swim in the lake."

As I put the phone down, Josh came back up. "Sorry to bother you Miss but I've cut my hand on a sharp pipe."

"Oh dear, so you have," I said looking at the blood oozing from the deep cut on his hand. "Let me help bandage that."

"Thanks Miss," he said as I opened the first aid kit and found a large bandage that would stop the blood flowing. I'd spent time in first aid training, so I was able to bandage the cut after I'd washed it under running water.

"You don't remember me, do you?" he asked.

I shook my head, no.

"You used to go to that gay bar near the river before you became a woman. I used to work behind the bar a few nights a week and I do plumbing jobs during the day," he declared.

"That's right. I just didn't recognize you without a bottle in your hand," I joked. Of course, I didn't know any of that.

"I must have poured you many drinks Miss Simpson. Do you remember that summer a couple of years back just after you started dressing as a girl? You used to be in the bar almost every night with that big blonde guy. He was your boyfriend. What was his name again? Oh yes Ken. He was a big man too. Whatever happened to him?" he asked.

"He sadly died. He drowned in the pool here. He fell in after having too much to drink and he must have hit his head on the bottom," I explained.

"Oh, I'm sorry Miss. You made a great looking couple back then," he declared.

"Can I offer you some coffee?" I asked him after I'd finished dealing with his hand.

"Oh no Miss Simpson. Thank you kindly just the same. Tell your daddy I found out what the trouble was. I'll have to order some parts and that it will be a few more days before I can fix it properly," he said picking up his bag of tools to leave.

"I'll let him know and thank you again," I replied opening the back door. I watched him walk back to his truck and heaved a big sigh of relief as he drove away.
