Chapter 51

Where do you go to help?
Cameron, behind you!
Cameron might be looking like he's winning the punching match at the moment, but still, he's the closest to you{if@ Cameron's Impression >55} and he's your friend{endif}! You can help him out, and then if {if@ CombatJaceInTrouble == True}the others still need{else}Delilah still needs{endif} help you can deal with it then.
"I'm coming, Cameron!" You call out, running up the noisy gravel and through the grass towards him. {if@ EffectiveSPD<3}You're a little bit winded from the encounter you already had, {if@ Weapon == 2}and carrying a huge Sledgeaxe doesn't help, {endif}so you're puffing and panting a bit by the time you get there. But! You're far too dedicated to the cause to let that stop you!{else}It's a bit of a slog, but for the purposes of having another go at fighting a (simulated) monster, you're not complaining!{endif}
His eyes flick up to you for a split second in acknowledgement, before focusing back on the monster in front of him again. You'd expect no less from a fellow Warrior student. He lifts one of his forearms vertically, blocking another hit from the monster before pushing its arm off to the side to get it off balance, landing a quick bladed-shield-jab with his other arm in place of his normal heavier punches. It disorientates the monster just that little bit more, stunning it for just a split second as it recovers and big Debbie arrives on the scene.
{if@ Weapon == 2}"KRRAAA!!!" You yell, in place of a pending battle cry (you actually do already have one that you made up when you were little, but it's a bit too embarrassing to say in front of your classmate like this (it's "go good guys")) as you bring down your mighty Sledgeaxe onto the back of the unsuspecting monster, hammer-side landing with all of its weight.
The simulated monster is **** down to the ground as its legs slide out from beneath it, pushing grass and dirt clumps with its talons. Before it can get up or even comprehend what just happened, you and Cameron and raining down hit after hit onto it, until it stops moving.{else}"ZAP-ATTACK!" You yell, immediately feeling very bad about it but deciding to think about your sorry attempt for a battle cry in more detail later, when you aren't still in the battle (probably when you're trying to sleep tonight). You swing {if BatonVolt == True}your staff down{else}your batons down in rapid succession{endif}, crackling with blue electricity and with a pretty-not-bad amount of blunt **** as well onto the back of the unsuspecting monster.
With the **** of your big strong arms and the faint spasms caused by the electricity, but mostly the electricity to be fair, the simulated monster topples forward onto the grass. You and Cameron don't give it another second to recover -- before anything else, you've both jumped on to of it, raining down hit after hit after hit onto it and screaming out in war cries (which are known for being much greater than battle cries). It is mostly you doing the war cries.
After a short time of baton bopping, electricity shocking, and blade-shield clocking, the monster at last goes still beneath you both. {endif}With one final big overhead swing onto the still monster, you and Cameron look up at each other, hunched over and panting from the **** and more-than-was-necessary exertions you just put out (fun, though). A smile quickly crosses both of your faces as you look at each other, monster lying defeated between you.
{if@ Weapon == 2}"Go good guys!"{else}"Woop!"{endif} Cameron says, gleefully.
KKRA-CKOOOM!
Your shortly-lived celebrations are interrupted by a booming boom noise, and a sudden rush of hot air that passes over you at the same time as a fiery orange flash emanates out from behind you. You turn quickly, spinning on your heels, to see the bridge completely erupted in flames. Pieces of charred timber rain down and splash into the running stream, being taken away by the cool water as a thick cloud of smoke. On the piece of land on the other side of the stream from you, Delilah lands daintily on her toes, looking proud of herself.
She tucks her sickles underneath some of the straps on her leather armour, smiling down into the river at where the blackened body of a completely blown up monster lies. Hopefully it didn't cost the school too much, since you pay for its funds and everything....
"Alright, everybody, come in!" Professor Phoebe calls out to your right, jumping from the hut's thatched roof. "It's evaluation time."
Blinking away your surprise and financial concerns, you and Cameron walk over towards where she's standing. {if@ CombatJaceInTrouble == True}Jace limps out of the hut's door, covered in little tiny scratches and with a lot of his crossbow bolts broken in half.{else}Jace walks out from the hut's door, looking a little bit sheepish, but you're sure he'll have more chances to shine later on.{endif} Delilah gets there last, her leather boots a bit wet from crossing the stream, but looking fully unharmed and carrying a tangible smugness about her.
{if@ CombatJaceInTrouble == True}When she gets close enough to see Jace in detail, her face drops into one of total shock and concern, and her pace picks up into a light jog. Jace gives her a little grin and raises a hand in greeting as well as an "I'm okay", but she doesn't slow down, nearly knocking him over on impact as she checks him over and makes sure he's okay like a worried mother doting over her son. Or, you know, like other sorts of people that get concerned too.
"What happened? Are you alright? Why are you putting all of your weight on one leg? Are you alright?" She flood him with questions, some repeatedly, letting go of her grip on him to circle around him and get the full 360 view.
"I'm fine, Dellie." He says, still in good spirits. "Just, uh.... crossbow bolts are not suitable as a knife substitute. I should get a knife."
Delilah breaks her doting for a second as head snaps over to you for a second in a scowling glare, as if she's somehow blaming you for this, before paying all of her attention to Jace again. Well, you do sort of feel a bit bad for not helping him out, but it all turned out fine didn't it? Argh, even though she's unnecessarily mean, you're second-guessing yourself and feeling bad now...
Professor Phoebe clears her throat, bringing everybody's attention back up to her again. You're happy enough to move onto hearing about how well you all did, after flashing Jace a thumbs-up and a head tilt which he responded to with his own thumbs-up. Your conscience is cleared.{endif}
Here goes, then....
