By the river.

Wilbur didn’t know where he was going. The odd colors of the world was disorientating, the skies were red, the sun was black, and every other color seemed to be tinged in grey.

Wilbur finally burst out of some bushes and found himself on the shore beside a river. Wheezing, he went over to the water’s edge and dropped to his hands and knees to get a drink. However, before his lips touched the water, he immediately noticed something odd. He could not see his reflection on the water’s surface.

Shocked, Wilbur started waving his arms above the water, but to no avail. There was no trace of his reflection at all.

Wilbur remembered how the troll seemed to look right past him twice before. So that’s what happened, he thought. I’ve become invisible.

His gaze immediately fell upon the dull grey ring on his left middle finger, except in this strangely colored world, the ring was not grey but bright silver and it gently shimmered with a golden aura.

Wilbur then tried to remove the ring from his middle finger, but found it impossible, which was strange. The ring was not at all a tight fit. In fact, it seemed to wrap naturally around his finger. He could barely feel it on his skin. Yet when he tried to pull it off, it couldn’t be budged.

“Oh great, am I destined to be invisible forever?” Wilbur asked aloud, “How the hells do I turn it off?”

As if on cue, the world around him eased back to its natural lighting and acoustics and Wilbur noticed that he could now see his reflection on the water’s surface. Relief washed over him. Wilbur sat back on the sand, lifted his head back, and started to laugh out loud at the absurdity of his recent encounter.
