Bob's Reserch (side chapter)

While Widowmaker was working on the new source of income Bob, back at the base, decided to figure out more about his power. He, Moira and Sombra did a couple of tests on themselves and a control unit of a talon agent unaffected directly by Bob’s power.

Quickly they figured out that a sort of radiation emanated from his subjects, especially from the spots he wrote on and then they spread all over their bodies and concentrated in the brains of the subjects. They were quickly to notice the problem with Sombra and Moira having different ways of applying the written ownership.

For example, Moira had the ownership radiation come at her from all around, from unknown sources but by a quick deduction they figured out it must be just the data centres where her certifications are being held.

For sombra it was clearly coming from the cybernetic part of her brain and spread its invisible tentacles over her biological brain and the rest of her body, some of her radiation jumped over to power Moira’s it seemed.

So, they brought in Tracer, the first surprise is that they found no radiation on the maid, which was weird and while double checking the testing equipment it did not detect any radiation on Sombra or Moira either. After a quick check and recalibration of the machine they were quick to notice that in fact it wasn’t broken, the radiation just changed its frequency at random intervals. The conclusion they settled on was that it’s origin wasn’t really technological.

Next test was done on a few talon agents, one was claimed by Bob directly, then made to sign the other, it worked without a hiccup. Then an unsigned agent was made to sign another one, it didn't work. That was good, not a third party out of his control could use his name. Next, the two agents were claimed by the third that was already signed and given instructions by bob on a screen separately, the first one had to introduce himself, it worked well like it did previously with Emily. Next was Bob giving instructions without introducing himself and it still worked. Then they took a third agent, who did not know who Bob was and asked another unsigned agent to do a recording and pretend to be Bob. The recording didn’t work.

The conclusions from their experiments were that the power was likely not originating in any form of technology, there is no indication that magic exists so the conclusion was hard to make and for the time being the power was concluded to be magical in nature.
