Becky bides her time and escapes the water

Becky wasn't the strongest swimmer, and she could see that she wasn't making much headway against the river's ****. Deciding not to over exert herself, she decided to let her body go limp, simply floating on. Becky started to go with the flow, keeping herself from sinking into the water while biding her time for an opportunity to break free from the current and escape the lake on the other side.

It was an arduous and terrifying task. The strongest **** of the current seemed to be in the center of the lake, almost moving in a circle around the island. Becky drifted onward and around, like a moon in orbit around the island, eyes watching desperately for a branch, a shallow section, anything she could use to get herself free, but for a time, it seemed she was stuck.

Finally, after what felt like several minutes, Becky could see a rock formation growing closer, the current moving her away from the center of the lake, and toward the outcropping.

Becky saw her opportunity, or least, what she hoped was an opportunity. She threw herself against the rock, desperately trying to latch on to any handholds to pull herself up. It was slippery, and difficult, and Becky wasn't exactly the strongest woman alive, so it wasn't easy. But she wasn't weighed down by any clothing or equipment either, and she was fueled by the kind of desperation that only the threat of drowning can inspire. After an incredible amount of effort, Becky pulled herself out of the lake, chest heaving as she gasped for air.
