Maybe for now, but is she truly safe?

Becky clung to the rock, her chest heaving from the exertion. It was rough against her skinny body and scraped her tiny breasts where she clings tight, but it was welcome after the ordeal in the current.

She just hung there for what seemed like ages, waiting for normality to return, to gather her thoughts and assess her surroundings. She looked as best she could across and through gaps in the rock, trying to work out what lies in store for her, acutely aware she is alone and naked in a strange place.

Something was brushing against her foot and she shook it free, recalling the fear she felt in the water when loose branches touched her legs, her overactive imagination conjuring up images of all sorts of strange creatures that lurked, unseen, beneath the waves. For now she was safe, and she smiled at her paranoia.

Still, whatever it was, wasn’t easily freed from her ankle and she took her eyes from the rocky landscape to see what this troublesome branch or plant was. As she did, she took a sharp intake of breath as she realised that it wasn’t a branch. A strange pink and grey tentacle had wrapped itself around her ankle and was insistently pulling on her, trying to drag her back down into the water.

She shook her foot more vigorously now, not wanting to loose her handhold on the escarpment, but whatever it was held firm. Worse, it started to snake up her leg further now, seeking a better grip, and a second one was twining its way around her other leg. Becky scissored her legs, trying to free herself, but onwards and upwards the tendrils moved, now grasping firmly around the tops of her thighs, pulling insistently and getting uncomfortably close to places they shouldn’t.

She felt alone, exposed, and ****, not sure of her next step. To fight the beast here, or join it in the water to better effect?
