Bashful Awakening

James's alarm blared out it's shrill cry at 5am, as always. They'd been awake too long last night. He slapped his phone off of the nightstand. It didn't stop. Of course it didn't. Now he had to get out of bed, if just to turn it off...and then go to work.

As he groaned his way out of bed, the sound of water in the next room reminded him of last night. He turned off his alarm and glanced sideways. His face grew warm seeing her stand in the doorway.

"'Morning.", he droned groggily. She responded, while rubbing her eye, with a series of soft trills and a clicking sound.

Suddenly feeling much more awake, he decided to test their newfound boundaries. Before he could hesitate, he gave her a quick peck on the lips, and a tap from his forehead to hers. Just enough for a small wave of gold. She suddenly looked more awake, as well. A slight glow of purple touched her cheeks.

As James readied himself, and the two ate their breakfasts, they shared glances and blushed constantly. When Sally came in, it took minutes for her to notice.

Sally stared awkwardly at them. "...So. Anything interesting happen after I left?"

James answered a little too fast. "Nope! No uh...I mean we played online and lost track of time. Ended up falling asleep on the couch for a bit."

"Mm...that why you two're looking like teenagers that just did the deed?", she cocked an eyebrow and looked at him with a slight frown.

He sighed. "Okay no...no we uh...we didn't do that. We just...kissed. Kinda."

"Kinda?", she questioned incredulously.

"Like...a thing that's their version of it I think."

"You think? So are you a couple now? Kinda quick, isn't it?", she folded her arms. Looking more like a scolding parent than the playful sister he was used to.

"I...think so? I can sort of...feel her colors now. Like, when they happen my body gets warm in the same spots." He glanced at Aurora, who shimmered purple. "Like that...that's this sort of a tingling warmth."

Sally had to keep herself from rolling her eyes. "Right...so now you're in love?"

"Yes."

That shocked her. "You sound...super sure of that."

"I am."

She sighed. "Okay...alright, then you two can figure out what to do about that. I'm just here to make sure she doesn't get into trouble."

"That's okay. I'm still glad you're willing to help."

"Just...don't boink or I'm raising my price." She closed her eyes and sat back into the couch. James pressed his forehead to Aurora's before leaving. Sally blinked at the gold color that Aurora glowed with as he left. She let herself drift to sleep when Aurora went back into the garage.
