Bad day at the truck stop

She stopped at a mailbox to catch her breath and looked around. The place was pretty much deserted with only one truck at the pump and two cars in the parking lot. The truck left the pump briefly, only to turn in to the parking lot.

Lauren looked to her left and saw that a small building was more than twenty feet away from the truck stop and ten feet away from her. The sign read, “Showers”. Lauren smiled as she sprinted towards them. When she got there, she got her breath for a little bit then went to the women’s shower and began to pull on the handle; but it wouldn’t budge. Lauren looked up to see another sign that read: “Showers (both women’s and men’s) are out of order. We’re sorry for the inconvenience.”

Well, there went that Idea. Lauren thought glumly. Then she turned her attention to the truck stop. Well, maybe I can go buy a bottle of water to – oh, right. How would I pay for it? “Excuse me, I would like to buy a bottle of water, please; the biggest on you have. Oh, I seem to have left my wallet in my other diaper.” Lauren sighed.

Lauren turned to her left, however, and saw a drinking fountain next to the showers. Wasting now time, Lauren rushed over to it and pressed the button. Thankfully, the fountain at least worked and she started drinking until her stomach bulged outward. Sighing in relief, Lauren wiped her mouth with her arm. That was one problem solved, at least.

Now to find a way home.

Lauren then looked at the truck in the parking lot; the back was wide open and the driver wasn’t anywhere to be seen. There were two options she could see.

First, she could just get in the back of the truck and ask the driver for help when he or she got back. Or, she could toss her pride aside and march into the truck stop and find the driver herself.

Then again, there was also a pay phone nearby. If she found at least a quarter, she could call someone to come and get her. But if she chose that option, who would she call?
