Moyer was never resettled. The village was declared to be haunted when a trader eventually ventured through, only to find massed about the village well a mass of skeletons entangled among each other in an eternal embrace. No one dared settle there again, and the town remained abandoned until the forest consumed it again.
Kazi only gathered his courage enough to venture back to Moyer once, nearly a week after taking Venus. When he returned he brought with him two more women, emaciated and thin, but had Venus the awareness, she might have recognized the red hair of one, or the blonde locks of the half elf.
In time, reports would trickle in to the cities of an increased kobold presence in the area, but such a lonely road and near the haunted town, little came of it. The odd raid against passing caravans, the carts wrecked, men dead, goods taken and women vanished, was brushed aside as the normal perils of travelling.
No one ever discovered what went on within the forest where those women vanished into. Beneath a great hill, burrowed in the very bedrock, in the innermost chamber of a vast warren of half breed kobolds, where taken women would be brought, force fed a drug which robbed them of will, replacing it only with a carnal need, one eagerly sated by the hordes of kobolds who called the warren home. Nor would they know of the one woman, known to the tribe as the broodmother, her belly ever gravid with a new litter of kobolds, her pale body, heavy from many births, naked save for the odd charms of bone or scarlet paint like some ancient fertility goddess from the dawn of time, who dwelled and presided over the mating of these new women, fed a constant stream of mujaberry wine and the attention of an endless stream of her half bred concubines.
And even if someone knew, who would care?
