Chapter 10
by FlightoftheBeers
How are things at home?
Bad, and getting worse.
Mary Jane was constantly working late. While Spider-Man kept odd hours, it was difficult for him to come home and for his wife to be absent. Of course, voicing this did not go over well.
"I'm sorry I can't be the dutiful little housewife who sits at home and waits for her thrill-seeking husband to maybe come home!" She shouted angrily. How dare he comment on her late hours when she'd put up with his for years!
"That's not—" Peter began, but she cut him off.
"So it's fine for you to swing around all night, but when I'm working to bring home money that we desperately need, I'm the bad guy?" She kept her hands on her hips and glared down at him.
"It's not just that! Look at you!" Peter replied. "Ever since getting that job with the Kingpin—who is evil, by the way! I can't believe I need to say that—you've been dressing like... like a slut! You keep coming home with expensive outfits and jewelry. If we're do **** for money, then why do you keep spending it all?"
"Not that it's any of your business, but my boss, your evil villain, has been buying these things for me. I need to keep up a certain dress code and appearance, something that is refined and expensive. So what if it shows off my cleavage? It never bothered you before!" She could feel the heat rising inside of her body. She was angry; furious. He had the gall to comment on her dress and fashion? She had been doing this all for him! To protect him! To protect their marriage! To keep a roof over their heads! And this was what she got?
MJ grabbed her purse and slung it over her shoulder.
"Where are you going?" Peter asked, standing up.
"Out. And don't even think about following me, "Spider-Man". I need some time to myself!" With that, Mary Jane stormed out of their apartment.
Where does she go?
