Back at the diner

"You're way too drunk to go to bed. Let's get you some pancakes first." Scarlett practically pushed Hugo into the 24-hour diner.

He stumbles in and slurs, "fine."

Seth waits until they were seated and asked for a filter coffee and some pancakes for each of them. Scarlett adds a request that a particular waitress that had caught their eye come to their table.

"How can I help you?"

"You're cute. I like you," Scarlett purrs.

The young waitress blushes, "t-thanks!"

"Get under the table and put those lovely lips to work, why don't you," Scarlett said in her trademark dominatrix tone as she lifted her skirt.

Seth and Hugo look at her, judgingly.

The girl looked confused for a split second, as if trying to decide how she should react. Eventually she said in a friendly tone, "of course!" before happily crawling under the desk.

"What?!" Scarlett gestured her annoyance, flaunting her jet black nails.

Seth shrugged and Hugo ignored the sounds happening from under the table as Hugo tried to explain his mood, "Look. It's true that not being able to -- ," he paused to gesture at the girl under the table, "-- do 'that' sucks, but it's not what's getting me down. You all know I've collected enough trinkets and potions to keep myself satisfied for a while. We're all careful, and I'm especially careful. We don't want unnecessary attention from law enforcement with our --," he gestures under the table again, "hobbies."

Seth asked, "Oh god, not the magic-enforcer-conspiracy again."

Scarlett purred, "explain.."

Hugo continued, "I wouldn't have tried to enchant a fucking enforcer detective! And even if we did, how did my spell get through her defences? They have training; and we know they're powerful anyway."

"Maybe you were just drunk," Seth interjected.

"Fuck you ... maybe, but it's different. It was like she was a purely non-magic one day, and the next she was not. I swear!" He turned to Scarlett, "Scarlett believes me! Right?!"

She dropped out of her trance of pleasure, "sure, whatever."

Hugo tried one last appeal for their attention, "I'm telling you! Something strange is happening here! Just come watch her with me for a bit, I know she's still on holiday around here with some guy, and if everything is normal, I promise I'll drop it and we can go out again."

Scarlett moaned, "whatever it takes to get Hugo back in action."

Seth accepted, just as the pancakes arrived.
