Hey there! First of all welcome to my story.

I don't want to talk too much about the setting here, not seeing a need as that would spoil a lot of the planned plot on my part. But, as I wrote in the summary, this is a grimdark world.

What is grimdark? Well to put it simply, Might is Right. Personal power, political power or just being born as a noble/royal? Doesn't matter, there are no protagonist powers or pink-tinted glasses in grimdark stories. The guy across the bar is an old veteran adventurer? He will kick your ass if you just started out, no questions asked. Noble fancies your childhood friend? Better tell her to spread her legs or you, her family, and maybe the whole village will burn - and she will still be **** afterward.

Not to say everything is dark, just that the "norm" falls into darker themes like slavery and ****. Not to say there can't be a wholesome adventure treasure/beast hunting with your MC and his/her friends - just remember that friend of yours may like you/that female team member a bit more than he should and won't take no for an answer, or that noble over there would really like to buy your beastkin friend out of your hands...
