Attempt 2

I went back to the Pokemon center to heal my new Magikarp up, and let her out of her pokeball.

"Hello! My names Mark, nice to meet you!" I said, extending my hand to the 4'5 swimsuit-clad girl.

She stared at it, and then realized what I wanted her to do, extending her hand and shaking mine.

"What's your name?" I asked.

"Karla, Hey there." She replied, flashing a large grin.

"Before we take on the gym again, what moves do you know?" I asked.

"Moves? Oh, you mean these!" She blurted, pulling a phone out of the front of her swimsuit. She pointed the screen at me and I saw four boxes, 3 empty and one that simply said 'Splash', I tapped on the move and saw that it did 0 damage, and had no status effects.

"Oh, that's disappointing." I said, handing the phone back to her. I held it in front of her, but she seemed spaced out, looking around.

"Uh, Karla? You gonna take this back?" I asked, then Karla looked at me, surprised.

"Oh yeah! Thanks!" She said, gleefully taking the phone back.

I then pressed the button on her pokeball, and she disappeared in a flash of light.

"Wow she isn't the brightest, isn't she?" I commented to Sophia, and she nodded in response.

We then walked back into the gym, and headed to the leader.

"Back so soon? Are you underestimating me again?" She gloated, sending out her Cubone.

I sent out Sophia, and she rushed up to Cubone, and before Cubone could act, Sophia slapped her with her vine. This knocked Cubone on the ground, her attack obviously having more strength behind it than last try. Cubone climbed to her feet and tickled Sophia with her tail, causing her to giggle and move her arms down to stop Cubone. She then got over her laughing, and once again struck Cubone with her vine. This time, Cubone fainted, and the gym leader returned her to her ball.

I suddenly saw Sophia grow another inch, and she pulled out her phone. She had a confused look on her face as she tapped the device, but she eventually put her phone away and the leader sent out her Onix.

Onix was just as intimidating as last time, but I had faith in Sophia, with her new skill to beat it.

Sophia then used a move I hadn't seen her use before, she plunged her vines into the sand on the ground, and I saw vines creep up Onix's feet. The vines seemed to glow, and I thought I was hallucinating, as Sophia seemed to rapidly grow, now standing at 5'1, a whole foot taller than her previous height. Onix didn't seem as scary now for some reason, maybe it was because they no longer tripled Sophia's size, but I felt there was something different about her.

Onix swept with her tail like last time, but this time Sophia jumped and dodged, before lashing Onix's stomach with her vines, unlike last time, this did more than just a scratch. The **** was great enough that Onix had flinched from the impact, leaning back a good 2 feet.

Onix then plunged her tail into the sand, and it looked as though her outfit and tail was becoming thicker, and more jagged.

Sophia then wrapped up Onix's tail in her vines, and began squeezing her. I could see the stone on her tail beginning to crack and crumble under the ****.

Onix noticed that Sophia was focused on her attack, and took the opportunity to attack, opening her mouth and letting out a purple-blue flame, which was large enough to encompass Sophia. When the flame cleared I saw Sophia, still standing with a determined scowl on her face.

Sophia released her hold on Onix, before vaulting off her tail to bound to Onix's face, before slamming her in the cheek with her tail.

From this Onix tumbled to the ground, fainted. I immediately saw it disappear in a flash of light, and I saw Sophie shrink to just above her prior stature, at 4'4. This was odd, seeing as she usually grew at 1 inch intervals, so I assumed she had gained two levels when she beat Onix.

Sophie ran up to me, a smug grin on her face.

"That was awesome! What was that new move you used?" I asked,

"It's called Growth, check it out in your pokedex." She responded, arms crossed, still smiling.

'Growth

The user's body grows all at once, raising the Attack and Sp. Atk stats.'

"Huh, neat!" I said, slightly confused as the move didn't say anything about rooting vines or said vines growing around opponent, but I didn't further question it.

I walked up to the Gym Leader, who had a defeated expression on her face.

"But how? I usually never lose to trainers without evolved Pokemon." She questioned, handing me a badge.

I placed the badge in my trainer case, and me and Sophia headed out.

On the way to the next town we got the HM for Cut, which Sophia learned and used to cut the thick brush blocking our path to the woods.

The woods were dark and damp, and we could constantly hear rustling in nearby bushes.

As we passed through an opening in two trees, a Beedrill flew out of a nearby hive. Sophia braced herself for combat, and started off using what she said was Growth. Her vines plunged into the ground, and I saw her grow in front of my eyes, but she was a bit taller than before, now standing at 5'3. I looked for vines around the Beedrill, but I didn't see any, which was different from when we fought Onix. Beedrill tried to stab Sophia with her stinger, but Sophie dodged then used Cut, defeating the Beedrill.

Sophia then shrunk back down, but she still seemed taller than normal, previously coming up to the bottom of my chest, she now came up to my armpits.

"Wow you really are leveling up quickly, aren't you?" I commented.

"Yeah, that must be it."Sophia reassured.
