Chapter 7
by
YourBestNightmare
Should you attack now for the upper hand, or wait to see if they're willing to cooperate?
Attack!
You decide the silence is not a good sign. You don't know how this person got into your chambers, but your room is located in the tallest tower. They have no escape, you have them right where you want them. You jump into action as quickly as possible, swinging the sword from behind your back into an attack position as you charge forward. However, having just awakened from your low-quality sleep at your desk, your muscles aren't primed. The shadow figure easily parries your swing, and you brace your back for a retalliating blow.
The blow indeed comes, but much lower than you have anticipated. You feel something swing against your ankles, and you are consequently knocked across the room onto your side. "Dumb human," the voice speaks again, but you notice your attack has apparently caught this visitor off guard, as the distinctive gravelly timbre the voice previously posessed is gone, replaced by what sounds like a gutteral, yet distinctively female voice. "I am not here for fighting." The figure regains her composure and returns to the darker-sounding voice. "I... I only tell you, do not look in woods." The shadowy figure has moved inhumanly fast, and is poised back at the edge of the window, you can only assume to make an escape. She clearly isn't going to be revealing any information.
You see the figure glance out the window, and the pale moonlight streaming onto their face reveals your suspicions to be correct. The slender, delicate features of a woman can be made out, but... Something about her eyes seems off. The woman repositions a scarf over her face and gives yet another glance out the window. You don't think you were meant to figure that out. Clearly, you think to yourself, she is not a professional at espionage.
The sounds of the scuffle have apparently alerted the guards. You hear the sounds of approaching footsteps, followed by frantic rattling of the handle of your bedchamber door. You had asked Gilbert to lock it the night before to make sure you were not disturbed. If the door is still locked, and your key is still sitting on your study table... How did this woman get into your chamber? You stare at her, both befuddled by this entire situation, as well as still physically shocked from being knocked over. If she didn't come through the castle, past all the guards, through the locked door, that only leaves...
You see the woman staring at something out the window, and she makes a whistling noise. You don't know what she's looking at, but you're positive it is her means of escape. Still in a bit of mild shock, you simply take in the situation, and you suddenly see a gigantic figure swoop past the moon that hangs in the sky. Could it be... A dragon??
The woman turns to face you once more and says "No woods. For good of all." And she poises herself to leap out the window. She's going to jump out onto this dragon! If you are going to get to the bottom of this, you'll probably need to think fast...
Does this woman get away?
