At the store

“So Wendy, first things first, dinner, what are you making?”

“Um I was thinking of making lasagna.”

“Hand made pasta?”

“Of course!” She giggles “only the best for you.”

“So you know what we need for that?” Grabbing a cart

“Yep, I’ve made it before. I have a list here.”

“Alright, let’s go. So I know we need eggs, flour, oil, ground beef, cheese, what else?”

“That’s almost all of it actually, just a few different spices and some tomato sauce.”

“Alright let’s go.” Pushing the cart and wrapping an arm around Wendy

As we pick up ingredients, I was doing some thinking “Wendy, I’ve been doing some thinking.”

“Hm?” Comparing two different boxes of salt. “About what?”

“Get the first one it’s a bit cheaper, and it’s basically all the same. Anyway, I was wondering, do you want kids someday?”

She puts the box into the cart “Kids? Yeah obviously, why wouldn’t I want kids with you?” She smiles “That’s the last of the ingredients for dinner what else you thinking of getting?”

“But isn’t going through a pregnancy really painful and tiring? I don’t want to see you suffer. I think we should get some vegetables, some extra meat and some snacks I guess, for you know the rest of the week.”

“Yeah sounds good. I have heard that it is painful but I think it’s worth it carrying your child, I think it’s just something I want to do. I want to take the pain to have our own little family.” She smiles and gives a quick peck on the lips.

“Yeah having a family does sound nice, and it is a nice idea, but maybe a few years down the road sound good? I still want to spend a few years just the two of us.”

“That sounds like a good idea, you know travelling, exploring our relationship, and having amazing sex every day.” She giggles

“Wendy! Not in public.” I playfully shove her

“Sorry, it does sound nice though. We have everything?”

“Yeah this looks like everything. Anything you want?” Starting to push it towards the cashier line.

“Oh I normally don’t get anything for…. Myself, I usually just stick to whatever was the cheapest.” She says quietly

“Oh right 53 a month, sorry Wendy that was insensitive of me.”

“John it’s fine, I’ll just have whatever you bought with you. It’s fine really.” She suddenly just starts tearing up.

“Wendy! You’re crying is everything ok?” Suddenly very worried I do not want Wendy to cry, it just breaks my heart every time I see it.

She smiles “I-It’s just, I’m so th-thankful that you’re so c-caring and l-loving to me. Y-you always think about me and n-not just yourself, It j-just hit me with how much you care a-about me. John I really love you.” She smiles and quickly wraps her arms around my waist.

Placing a hand on her head and one around her shoulder I pull her in. “I love you too Wendy I don’t know what I would do without you” I smile back “now let’s get home shall we?”

“yeah that sound’s good” she smiles

We pay for the groceries and I try to load them into the car, but Wendy stops me “the doc said relaxing! That means no heavy lifting, I can do it!” She says angrily. “seriously, let me do it I don’t want you in the hospital again.”

“Are you sure Wendy?” I stop trying to carry the stuff.

“Positive, just go in the car and relax, I’ll just load the car and get in in a minute.”

“Fine” I fake a pout and act like a toddler stomping into the car causing Wendy to giggle.

After a few minutes I see Wendy open the door and climb in quickly kissing my cheek. “Let’s go home now.” She smiles
