As good as could be expected

Your nap is brief, but you wake up feeling completely refreshed. Valkyrie wakes with you, which leads to a exchange of pleasantries. You don't remember to have ever been happier, and tell her that. Her laugh is pure and inhibited, she kisses you hard and toss you back to bed. Unfortunately, this time it isn't to make another bout of savage sex.

You look for Captain America shortly after breakfast, and is told he is in the living room. You find him there, reading the morning newspaper, as well as Agent 13, Sharon Carter, who is reading a Woman's magazine with a highlighter.

"Good morning" you remember your manners for some reason, and is greeted in turn by both heroes.

"I want in" you say without wasting time. Captain America frowns "You have already been accepted to the avengers, Apotheosis. What are you talking about?"

"... the squad you lead last night. I want to be part of it" You realize you are fidgeting. Great, a master of four different martial arts, and you feel nervous just because he is the greatest hero alive.

"No" it doesn't even come to you as a surprise. He return his eyes to the newspaper.

"Valkyrie is part of it. And she came back hurt" You try reasoning with him.

"Is she still hurt?" His tone was the worst part.

"No, she healed" you admit

"The answer is still no" Something was wrong though. You could feel Agent 13 eyes on you, analyzing, measuring. You resist the urge of reading their minds. You pick the remote control, and turns on the TV. The news reporter is talking about a convenience store robbery. In Steve's newspaper the cover page is about some crazy stunt a third world dictator is pulling.

"What did you guys do yesterday?" you ask cautiously. Steve folds the papers, and looks straight at you. You are so glad you weren't eavesdropping his thoughts, there was no way you could meet him in the eyes if you were.

"A mission" he answers, but you hear the challenge in the air. "A quiet mission" you say. He does break a smile, but it is short lived "Yes. And that is why the answer is no"

You can barely imagine some of the most visible heroes in the World doing some sort of black ops, but in a way it is brilliant. Hide in plain sight. But something like that cant be done only with fieldwork. "... then let me help. Even if not in combat, until you think I am ready. Some of my powers work at long range. I just want to be sure Valkyrie is okay."

Steve begins to shake his head, but Sharon stands up and says "Alright. You come with me. Welcome to the Secret Avengers" she offers you her hand, and you take it. Steve mutters something about who is in charge, but relents, and adds you should get a black costume.
