As a Waitress

Abby walks into the restaurant that had posted the job listing. It was pretty much what you would expect. Appleseed's is a national chain known for... well, existing. As far as Abby cared, it really didn't stand out at all. Bland food, a bar, some TVs. That's about it.

She goes to the bar and waves down the nearest employee, a woman a few years older than herself.

"Hey, I'm here for the job listing that was posted online. I want to apply."

The woman smiles a very fake customer-service smiles and says in a bubbly tone, "Of course! We'd love to have you on the team! I'm Jenna, the day shift manager, nice to meet you!"

"Uh, right. I'm Abby," Abby says. She feels a little awkward having this conversation out in the middle of the restaurant, even if it isn't super busy. "So, do I need to interview, or...?"

"Honestly, we're pretty short-handed at the moment. Do you have any experience in customer service?"

"Yeah, a little. I worked a few odd jobs in high school."

"Perfect! You're hired! We'll email you a schedule and have a couple uniforms cleaned for you. Welcome to the team, girl!" She gives another too-broad smile and walks off to refill some customers' drinks.

That was easy! It wouldn't be the best paying gig, but it wasn't the worst either. She'd just have to make it work.
