Another oddity in Target
Arron was more than a bit confused as he pulled into the parking lot and parked the car. He was a bit taken aback by the officer calling him "ma'am" but it was easy enough to make that mistake (especially with Erin and him looking something alike). It took a measure of self-control to not correct the cop, especially since he was being let go with a warning and nothing else. Better than starting my new life in this town with a ticket... he supposed and then turned off the engine.
The weather was a bit on the cooler side but it still felt refreshing for him to step through the automatic doors. After spending weeks cleaning and hauling stuff into boxes, and not relishing the idea of having to do it again in reverse now, a bit of retail therapy never hurt. Erin laughed at that, finding it funny that a man would enjoy shopping at Target, and said something about ruining the meme economy (what that was, though, she never said...just exasperated at how she married such an old soul.)
He made his way down the aisles, fingering some things, before he pulled out a list of items that Sarah had asked him to grab for her. They were basic supplies like soap and towels and, as he walked down the aisles, thought nothing of the appearance of a man picking up various cosmetic products and putting them into a basket slung over his arm.
"That should do it.." he sighed before returning to the front. The usual self-checkout lines were down due to a computer bank malfunction and he found himself standing in line with a bunch of other women doing shopping during the morning hours.
"That's quite the basket there..." came a voice from behind. He looked back and noticed an older woman with a gentle warm smile on her face.
"Yes, my daughter forgot some stuff."
Arron was a natural chatty-Cathy as Erin often remarked so it was easy for him to talk with the woman. She was a bit hard of hearing so he had to talk a bit slower and a bit louder but no one seemed to really mind. She remarked with a bit of sadness, reaching out and placing a hand on Arron's shoulder, when he remarked they had moved after losing his spouse. "Well, young thing like you won't have to worry about that for too long, especially here."
Arron smiled and when he spotted a cashier waving to him, he smiled and nodded his good bye to the woman. "Thank you for keeping me company, dearie," the woman responded. As he turned and walked down to the cashier, she took one appreciative look at him. She seems super nice and would make a good match for Michael.
