The rest of the trip to King's Landing was relatively uneventful, largely because they made it as swiftly as possible in an effort to get there before people truly realized what had happened. A message was sent to Winterfell, telling Catelyn to prepare for trouble. Sansa was quiet and withdrawn through out, especially on the first day, when she was recovering from the epic amounts of liquor Robert had given her to make her more... susceptible to his charms. And night after night, Ned found himself enjoying the attentions of Cersei.

It was madness, but Eddard still couldn't resist her, despite what had happened, despite his wife, and despite knowing of matters between her and her brother. Which had not stopped - he knew for a fact that she was allowing Jaime the same pleasures she was offering Eddard. But still... still when she came to him he gave in to her...

King's Landing accepted the procession with a certain stunned obedience, as if trying to process what was happening. It didn't take much to learn that Stannis had fled to Dragonstone, and Renly had gone to the Reach. It was obvious to Ned that things lay on the knife's edge. He found himself wondering just what an incoherent message from his sister-in-law in the Vale meant when he received a message from the Queen to see her in her quarters.

Eddard arrived there as quickly as he could, finding Cersei there, clad in a thin garment of Myrish lace that did more to reveal her charms than conceal them. Ser Jaime was there as well, looking with pleasure at his sister, and mild distaste at Ned. "Lord Stark," purred the Queen. "So good of you to come so soon." She coughed to clear her throat. "Now... Jaime... Ned... I'm not blind to the tensions between you two. This is... a difficult situation, after all. But the three of us need to work together if we are to survive things. So allow me to suggest a way to ease all this... tension..."
