Chapter 2 by DubiousSintax
Whose story do we follow?
An unlikely group of college friends
On the outskirts of town was a long street, its houses nestled against the encroaching woodland - Elm street. The houses here were large if slightly run down, the location making them more affordable than similar properties in the town centre. The spot was perfect for raising a family, and so it was that several kids found themselves growing up with similarly aged neighbours, their close friendship during their formative years holding firm into young adulthood despite their growing personality differences.
The group referred to themselves jokingly as the Elm St Crew in their group chat, a subtle jibe at some of the other more exclusive cliques that had formed amongst their peers. They were always there for each other and knew they always would be, and as the unprecedented darkness descended upon their town they would need to maintain their solidarity more than ever before.
The crew consisted of Matt, dark haired, althletic and average height. He did well academically but sport was where he really shined. While he wasn't as buff or bulky as some of his peers he could hold his own and his hand eye coordination was among the best in his class.
Then there was Abbey, a pretty young woman, her blonde hair worn loosely tied back. She was quite bookish, considered the brains of the group and while she was not overweight, her lack of interest in physical activity had given her body a soft quality, her large breasts attracting a lot of unwanted attention from the men around town.
Jo was a bit of an enigma, their short cropped, dusty brown hair worn almost in a pixie cut, their short statured frame usually obscured by loose fitting, baggy clothes. A mystery to many of their peers, Jo socialised little outside of the Elm St friend group and found themself most at home in the online world where they thrived in fantastical game worlds and underground arts boards. While a bit of a loner, Jo was eternally grateful for their small group of friends and the love and acceptance they offered.
Finally there was Eric. Considered the trouble maker of the group, he was shorter and skinnier than average and wasn't the easiest to get along with. In truth he wasn't a bad guy, but his family situation had left him frustrated - his mother left at a young age and his father quickly remarried, his step mother bringing with her a daughter just slightly older than himself. Soon Eric felt himself an outcast in his own home, opting to stay out late to avoid his 'family' which only exacerbated the tensions in the household. Eric couldn't wait to finish college, his plan to find work in the big city and leave the town and his family behind him.
As the dark dreams descended on the sleepy town, these four unwittingly found themselves right in the thick of it. Would they survive or succumb?
Which friend's tale do you follow?

A group of friends are terrorised by a malevolent entity that haunts their dreams.
