Chapter 8 by Imposcar8 Imposcar8

"Love you, too, Ophelia."

An unexpected visitor.

The day progressed quietly. Isaac worked and chatted with Ophelia as she lounged and watched trash TV. However, as soon as the clock struck five, the front door rattled, like someone was unlocking it with a key.

“We expecting someone?” Ophelia asked after a moment, looking to the door.

The gears in Isaac’s brain turned. Who had a key? Dad, Jade… one was bad, the other was potentially very annoying. “No, but it might not be an issue.”

The door creaked open slightly, then flew the rest of the way.

“Alright, asshole, it’s been a week and you didn’t answer my text, so clearly it was a bust!” The familiar voice of Jade echoed from the entryway, and she quickly entered view, a six-pack of beers in each hand. “I bring beers to commiserate, so let us get shitfaced in the name of- holy fuck.”

Her pale green eyes landed on the topless Ophelia.

Ophelia gave a little wave from her place on the couch. “Hi.”

Jade looked at Isaac. “You had all day to reply to my text, you dick.”

“I was busy, Jade.”

“Yeah, busy not responding to my fuckin’ texts!” She entered the kitchen and set down the beers, then returned, leaning against the wall. “At the very least, introduce me to this…” She paused, seemingly at a loss for words. “...very, very attractive woman.”

Isaac sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose, trying to get his brain to catch up.

Jade was a very thin woman, pale with short black hair and green eyes. She was dressed in a black tee and jogging pants, and Isaac couldn’t help his eyes from wandering over her small bust and the inch of flat stomach he could see where her shirt was bunched up.

She was attractive to Isaac, sure, but he’d never heard her express interest before.

Nevertheless, he returned to the moment. “Yes. Right. Jade, this is Ophelia, the woman I’m sponsoring through the AWIO. Ophelia, this is Jade, my editor and my best friend beside you.”

“Nice to, uh, meet you,” Ophelia said. “Sorry about… this.”

“No, my fault, totally.” Jade shook her head, palming her face. “Thought Isaac was gonna be moping, since he didn’t fucking tell me.”

“I’ll… go change?” Ophelia said questioningly, looking at Isaac.

Isaac idly chewed on the inside of his cheek. He… had no idea how to handle this situation. Ophelia was looking at him with a raised brow, asking for instruction. Jade was clearly embarrassed but stubbornly standing in his house, covering her eyes as a blush started to form on her cheeks.

Well, if Jade wanted to stay, she could stay.

“You don’t have to, if we’re all comfortable,” Isaac replied to Ophelia with a shrug, finally standing from his desk to approach Jade. “Well, home invader? Are you proud of yourself?”

Jade scowled at him, her cheeks burning red. “You are going to be the **** of me, I swear to god.”

Ophelia nodded. “I’m gonna put on a shirt.” She started to stand from the couch.

“No, it’s fine,” Jade waved a hand dismissively. “I’m not uncomfortable, I’m just mad at Isaac.”

“Does she normally just… enter your house?” Ophelia asked Isaac with a laugh.

“Yeah, I gave her a key when she took care of the house for a week, a couple years ago. She’s basically my only friend. Besides you, now, of course.” Isaac patted Jade on the shoulder. “I’m gonna order some food, you and Ophelia get to know each other, and we’ll have a drink. Sound good?”

Jade nodded, smiling again. “Yeah.”

“Ophelia, sound good?”

The demon grinned. “I am fucking starving, and I haven’t gotten drunk in a long time. It sounds fantastic.”

***

Turned out that Ophelia liked to drink a lot more than Isaac had expected, and Jade had taken that as a challenge. In just two short hours, the women had each consumed five beers and unhealthy amounts of takeout. Isaac had managed to snag the last two beers before they were all gone, and was nursing the second.

“Gotta give you credit, Jade,” Ophelia said, only slightly slurring her words, “you drink like a demon.”

“I will… choose to take that as a compliment.” Jade was considerably more **** than Ophelia, and when her sobriety left so went her inhibitions. She stared boldly at Ophelia’s bare chest, only occasionally darting looks to the demon’s eyes or over at Isaac. “Haven’t drank like this in a while.”

“And there’s probably a good reason for that,” Isaac muttered.

“I heard you, bitch!” Jade shouted, scowling and pointing at him. “Shut th’ fuck up!”

“Hey now, that’s my boyfriend,” Ophelia said with a laugh.

Jade mumbled something into her beer bottle as she took a swig.

Ophelia snorted. “I didn’t say I was taken.”

“You heard that?” Isaac asked.

Ophelia winked in reply and finished off her final beer. “I think it’s time for us all to go to bed.”

“Don’ wanna,” Jade replied. She stuck out her tongue and also finished off her drink.

“I do, and I also want my man to myself for tonight, so if you don’t mind…?” Ophelia set down the beer bottle, stood and rested her hand on Isaac’s shoulder.

Isaac finished his drink, set down the bottle, and stood as well. “Jade, you know the deal. Feel free to use the first bedroom, take a shower, whatever. Just don’t eat all the food in my fridge.”

“You never have good snacks anyway,” Jade retorted, sinking into the couch.

“Isaac. Bedroom. Now.” Ophelia’s voice was a coarse whisper, strained with lust.

“Yes, ma’am,” Isaac replied, starting up the stairs.

“Have fun!” Jade shouted after him.

"That's the plan."
