Anna hurried in at the back of the class, her face flushed. Miss Wilson had already set up the day's experiment- a magnet with coils of copper wire wrapped around it. She was explaining to the class how powerful it could be, picking up and dropping screws with the flick of a switch.
"Of course," she added, "it can be scaled up." so saying, she reached under the desk and brought up a much larger version.
When the teacher switched it on the was an audible hum, the screws scattered on the desk top leaped to the magnet, along with a handful of paperclips from the next desk over.
"Hold on to your jewellery, ladies!" Miss Wilson smiled, increasing the power. Sure enough, girls around the room felt their earrings and necklaces being pulled forwards.
Suddenly, a strip of green plaid material flew through the air, slamming into the magnet and dangling, clinging by the staples that had been attached to it.
"Well!" Miss Wilson exclaimed, lifting the edge of Anna's skirt, "Who does this belong to?"
