An (almost) ordinary pair of leather shoes

You search the carriage, but you you can't seem to find anything. Frustrated you throw yourself down on the tilted seats. and the grab the walls startled when carriage tilts towards the waters with la 'slurch'.

Looking at the water you remember the the 'sewed' you'd felt and a dawning idea krept up on you. One you thought was a very bad idea. But you weren't really in a situation you could be choosy right now.

Deciding to ac in your idea you step carriage from the car into the mud. Then with your other foot you feel for that stringy seemed. The feeling sends shivers down your spine but you step onto it anyway.

your foot sinks some into the mud as you putt your weight on it and try to yank your of the foot. The sketch and the released momentum send you on your hands and knees and you feel a slimy wrinkly thing beneath your hands.

Although it's unpleasant you would have had to do this eventually som you feel yourself down the fleshy board (yep that's what you were going to call it). You grope around a little more and wiggle your fingers into some other folds and feel something else.

Scooping it out you wash it off in the water as best you can. You seem to have found some loot! You found two coppers that have turned green and a black coin you think might be silver. Nice! A silver is half a years worth of salary!

The other thing you fins is an ID card from the Enchanters Guild with the name Ben Brew. With a pleb name like that it could only have belonged to the coach man. You could sell it on the black market anonymously after which, who new what bad things it would be used for. Well, the Guild also had it's countermeasures against this sort of thing so nothing to bad.

You could also do a good deed and hand it over to the guild. It might make a good name for you and they might offer you a reward if this carriage indeed was the one you thought it was.

Pocketing the lot you continue to fell your self down until you fund something hard and beat at the very end and you try to pull it off with little success.

Taking a deep an yank towards yourself. With a squelch a leg emerged from the water accompanied by a nasty smell. You gag, but the leg's foot indeed has what you are looking for. fumbling at the laces and trying not to look at the bloated pale skin that makes up the ankle, you manage to untie it and slip the shoe off the man's ankle.

you let it soak in the water as you get to work on the other one. After getting it loose too you give them both as thorough as a scrubbing as you can on the inside with your hand. You don't rally know if you're making any difference trying to wash the shoe with this filthy water but you're just going to have to hope that you weren't.

Taking the shoes you make your self carefully back to the carriage where your sword and scabbard are. Although their not boots the shoes are a relative common but sturdy, most od leather but with a wooden sole. The weren't as good as your lost boots, though the wooden soles seemed to be in an ok condition and would be able to offer some protection against anything sharp you stepped on. You though the nails might have loosened somewhat but you were just going to have to make the best of it.

You hang them out to dry. You don't really think waring shoes that were still wet from a dead man's feet was a good idea.

Instead you lay yourself down on on of the tilted seats as comfortably as you can and think you'll take a nap. Although the dead man's shoes were not an attractive prospect they were better than nothing and the loot was enough to tempt you to be satisfied with the gains and leave, although you wouldn't really be able to make a new life from them unless you were smart about forging connections with who'm ever you sold the ID to.

But regardless you had to wait for your shoes to dry and get some rest in the meanwhile.
