Amulets of Yes

I saw two necklaces. Both had what looked like onyx ovals on small silver chains. One had an golden exclamation point on it, and one had a golden question mark it on. Under them was a piece of crisp white paper. On it was written in fancy script: These are the amulets of YES! If the person wearing the amulet with the ? on it asks questions to the the person wearing the ! amulet, the answer to the question will be yes. For example, if the wearer of the ! amulet asks the wearer of the ? amulet if he loves orange socks, the answer will be yes, and the person will believe he loves orange socks.

"Hmmm, can't be true," I mused as I looked for more clues in the box, but there was nothing.

I held up the amulet with the question mark on it. I slipped it on. It was long enough for me to tuck under my shirt. Then the doorbell rang.

I got up and went to the front door. I peeked through the door and saw Courtney. I opened the door. "Hello, Courtney. May I help you?"

"Oh, like your so polite," she said. "Um, I forgot toilet paper. Silly me. Can I borrow some?"

Borrow? I thought. You're going to give it back when you're finished? "Sure come on it, and I'll get some." I let her in and led her to the living room. I spotted the amulet with the exclamation point. I picked it up and handed it to her. "What do you think about this?"

Courtney took it and looked at it. "It's very pretty. What does it mean?"

"Don't know," I said. "Just found it. You can try it on while I get the toilet paper." I left her and went into the downstairs bath and got a package of toilet paper from under the sink. I came back and saw her wearing the amulet.

"So, is that yours?" I asked, pointing to the amulet.

"Yes," said Courtney. She picked up the amulet in her fingers and let the light glint off of the golden exclamation point.

I smiled. "And you really want to kiss me right now, don't you?"

Courtney blushed. "Why, yes I do. How can you tell?"

"Didn't you just lick your lips seductively and push out your chest?"

Courtney blushed more deeply. She smiled and nodded.

"Well, since you want to kiss me. You can go ahead and do it."

Courtney walked up to me, gently put her hands on my head and pulled me to her. We passionately kissed for several moments. She pulled away.

"Wow, did you really enjoy that?" I asked.

"Yes, I did very much."

"OK, then, do you wear that amulet every day?"

She put the amulet between her fingers again. "Yes I do."

"Isn't it true you only take it off to shower or sleep?"

"That's true," said Courtney. "Like how did you know?"

"Didn't you already tell me that and how much you love that?"

"Oh, that's right. I did, didn't I? Silly me." She stood there a bit nervously.
