Chapter 17

Are you?
Always.
You stop by your hotel room to drop your things and change from your uniform, then Ms. Campbell takes you to a small bar, about 30 minutes away from school. She says she likes it because it’s very close to her apartment and she’s friends with the owner, so she can leave her car here and go home walking.
“You were worried about us going to see a movie together, but not about taking your student to a bar?” You ask her with a raised eyebrow as she sits down at a table for two.
“What are you talking about? We just ran into each other here. It’s all a coincidence.” She winks up at you mischievously.
“I see. Gotcha.” You laugh. “Then what is a beautiful girl like you doing alone in a place like this?” You half-flirt, half-joke. It’s such a clichéd line that you can pass it as a joke if it doesn’t work.
Ms. Campbell raises her eyebrows, amused by your boldness but then grins and decided to play along.
“Oh, you know…” She rest her elbow on the table and her chin on her hand, then sighs overdramatically. “One of my students asked me out on a date and I had to refuse. So I’m here to drink my sorrows away.” She says, keeping her grin.
“What a coincidence, I asked my teacher on a date and she rejected me,” You continue, looking mockingly-hurt. “She must have found me too dull to hang out with. Could I buy you a drink, so that none of us has to spend this sorrowful night alone?”
Ms. Campbell can’t seem to take it anymore and burst out laughing heartily. “Sit down, you doofus!”
You get drinks and talk for a long while. Ms. Campbell asks about your life before coming to Hayes, your school, your family, your hobbies. In turn, you ask the same, and while she hesitates at first to talk about her personal life with a student, the **** quickly gets rid of that.
She tells you of the university she went to, her experience there. She also tells you of her relationship with her family.
“I get along great with my father, but not so much with mother. I ended up working with her at Hayes because my father believed it would make us closer. Well, let’s say that’s not going too well.” She smiles wryly. “It’s been a year already, but I disagree so much with her methods of education that I think it’s making things worse.” She sighs heavily.
You keep talking, and when you realize, its 11:42 PM.
“Crap, is it already this late? I might need to call a taxi…” You say.
Ms. Campbell eyes you seriously for a moment, as if pondering something. Then, she speaks.
“No, don’t do that. Tomorrow’s Saturday, so stay at my place for tonight. I’m not letting you go home alone with **** in your body and I’m too drunk to give you a ride.” She smiles.
“Are you sure?” You asks, taken aback. This is one hell of an offer.
“Yeah. It’ll be worse if something happens to you and they find out you were out drinking with me.” She grins mischievously. “I just hope you’re not thinking of doing anything naughty.”
“Why, I wouldn’t dream of it!”
“Yeah, right.” She says with a knowing smile, not believing you for a second.
You leave the bar and walk for 5 minutes until you reach her apartment complex. You go up to the third floor and enter her place. It’s small, but comfortable. Enough for one person and a few guests. The living room is spacious enough to welcome at least 5 people and 7 at most. She has a sleeper sofa in it and she prepares it for you.
Between the two, you are spreading the blankets over the bed when the most amazing thing happens. You give a silent thanks to every glass she drank tonight, because they apparently made her lose her balance and she falls on top of you, making you both crash on the bed with a yelp.
Ms. Campbell is on top of you, apparently dizzy and having difficulties getting up because of it.
“I’m sorry,” She says. “I think I drank a bit much.” She laughs nervously as she looks at you, faces close to one another.
“It’s okay. I’m not hurt. Are you?”
She shakes her head, and immediately regrets it. “God, I shouldn’t have done that.” She laughs.
You both move to get out of this situation, and your hand accidentally bushes against one of her boobs in the struggle, but she says nothing of it. Eventually, Ms. Campbell rolls over and is now lying next to you in the bed. Her body touches yours, her face is not more than 10cm away and, for some reason… you’re both staring at each other, silently and unmoving. All you hear is the sound of her breathing and your heart thundering in your ears.
Does anything happen?
