Alex was standing in front of her mirror, looking at herself as she modeled a new sundress. "What do you think, dad?" she asked, seeing his reflection in the mirror.

Phil stepped into the room. "You look beautiful," he replied.

Alex's face still showed doubt as she looked at her dad's reflection. "I know I'm not as pretty as Haley," she said, "but..."

Phil interrupted her. "Don't be silly. You and Haley look different, but both of you are beautiful." He crossed the room to stand behind her, his arms going around her stomach as he kissed her cheek. "I don't want you to ever think you aren't beautiful."

"You're just saying that because you're my dad," she said, "but I know the college acceptance boards don't have the same biases. Do you think they'll like it?"

"Alex, any man that doesn't find you beautiful doesn't deserve the title 'man'." Phil hugged her tighter against him, and her hand went to his arm.
