After the movie

"What the actual fuck was that?!" You almost yell laughing as you exit the movie teater.

"Holy shit yeah." Alex concurs as he has trouble walking straight with laughter.

"I mean i know that people in horror movies are dumb but come the FUCK ON." You yell.

"Why the fuck did they go back into the cave, FOUR FREAKING TIMES!" Alex wheeze with laughter.

"I know, buts what's even more amazing is that they didn't have a good reason to go in there to begin with. They didn't even manage that!" You laugh.

"But wasn't the monster gooood looking. Like so scary right?" He asks barely containing a snigger.

"Why yes the terrifying monstrosity that is so poorly CGI:ed in in every scen that he actually looks cut into the film." You respond.

"And motion captured by a random person from the street with no acting skills and told him 'to walk menacingly'." Alex points out.

You both laugh as you start walking swaying your arms back and forth. Mimiking the monster in the movie. You continue back towards your car and suddenly you forget everything that has happened to you the past months. You are simply out with your best friend, talking excitedly about the movie you just watched as loudly as two guys are able.

As the car comes into view however Alex shatters the illusion as his hand gently but firmly envelopes yours. It feels strange being sucked back to reality. Realising that you are not that person any more. That the guy you used to goof around with is now your honest to god husband. You suddenly feel like you lost something. Something important. His warm hand that has gotten plenty bigger than yours give a loving squeeze.

"Admit it though you got scared." He tease you

You suddenly get flustered, feeling like you have to defend yourself. "I did not." You retort.

"Oh yes you did. I felt you jumping and grabbing my arm with fright at one occasion." He press on.

"It was a cheap jumpscare that surprised me. That's all." You defend yourself.

Alex leans in and kiss you on the cheek and suddenly the feeling of loss severly lessened. "Right, nothing like that would scare you." He tease. You don't respond.
