How does the conspiracy start?
Addison discovers she can't buy any new clothes
The sales assistant watched with hidden disdain as the preppy brunette strutted around the boutique, a small group of outfits on hangers clutched in her hand. Her short skirt, tight top, and Louis Vuitton heels all doing nothing more than drawing attention to the taut young body underneath.
When the girl was finished browsing and turned to approach the counter, the assistant **** her usual polite smile, “Did you find everything you needed today?”
Addison carefully placed the garments she’d picked out on the counter, the one on top was a tight silk top and she didn’t want to fold or crease it, “Mmhmm, put these in bags and be careful with the silk okay?”
Without another word Addison turned her back on the counter dismissively, her eyes glued to her phone as she scrolled through her Instagram feed. She smirked at the notifications telling her that Brandon Turner, star quarterback of the college football team, had liked three of her posts. The brunette bit her lip in satisfaction, she’d heard Brandon was an ‘ass man’ and she’d spent almost an hour trying to get the perfect shot of her ass and legs in her tightest pair of yoga pants, just to try and get his attention.
Ultimately, Addison knew she had the money and she knew she had the body. What she wanted was popularity… fame… dating Brandon Turner would get her that.
The assistant behind the counter coughed politely, her gaze staring ruefully at Addison’s rudely turned back, “Excuse me Miss? Your total is nine hundred and thirty four dollars… and eighteen cents”
The young woman turned and pulled out her credit card, waving it in front of the assistants face with barely a glance up from her phone.
The second the card swiped through the reader though, the machine made an error sound that made Addison look up in annoyance. Could this woman not even process a credit card properly?
The assistant swiped the card a few more times, each time resulting in the same little error noise playing back to her. After a final attempt she looked up at Addison and handed back the card, her face fixed in a **** smile of politeness, “I’m sorry, your card has been declined…”
Addison stopped, “Excuse me?”
“Your card, it’s been declined.”
“That’s not possible, there’s thousands of dollars of credit on that card” Addison scoffed, stomping one of her high heeled shoes into the pristine marble of the boutique floor. “Try it again.”
“I’m sorry Miss; I tried it several times… I’m afraid there’s nothing I can do, unless you have another means of payment? Cash perhaps?”
Addison recoiled in horror, “Ew, no, I don’t carry cash”
“Then I’m afraid there’s nothing I can do” The woman’s tone grew a little firmer and she placed her hand a little more protectively on the bags of clothes Addison had been trying to buy. The sorority girl seethed in a mixture of frustration, confusion and embarrassment; was her stupid credit card broken?
“Fine!” She growled angrily, snatching up her purse and striding towards the doors, “Everything in here is just so last season anyway.”
Outside the store Addison angrily called her father, pacing back and forth on the sidewalk, holding the offending credit card in her other hand and scowling at it as though her wrath might guilt it into working again.
“Hello Sweetheart h-”
“Daddy!” Addison snapped, “My stupid credit card got rejected!”
From the other end of the phone there was a long drawn out pause before her father spoke again, his voice taking on a decidedly diplomatic tone, “Now sweetheart, listen… Your mother and I had a conversation this morning and, that’s not a mistake.”
“What?!”
“Your mother and I have decided that you need to be more responsible with the trust fund money, so we’ve put a condition on your card, any transaction for clothing of any kind will be rejected; No more frivolous spending on clothes young lady.”
“Daddy you can’t be serious!” Addison shrieked in shock, he was cutting her off from shopping for clothes?!? Every problem in Addison’s life had always been solved by getting her dad to throw money at it, for that to not be an option completely short-circuited the sorority girls mind. She just stood making high-pitched gasps of indignation, her mouth open in horror.
“What am I supposed to do when the winter collections come out? I can’t wear last year’s outfits again Daddy!”
“You’ll just have to make do Addison” Her father spoke sternly before he sighed and his voice softened, “Now, I’m sorry you had to find out this way, but, if you weren’t always out buying clothes then maybe your mother and I might’ve gotten a chance to ring and break this news to you more gently…”
“Daddy please!”
“No Addison, our decision is final…”
“You are the WORST!” The brunette shrieked, hanging up angrily on him before he could say another word and with a frustrated huff Addison started her march back to campus, high heels clicking as she went.
What happens to Addison next?
