Chapter 29 by simmaster
What's next?
A surprising test of your patience.
You follow your new mistress around for a while before you summon the courage to speak up. "So... Where are we going?"
"I'm looking for potion ingredients. Mushrooms, weeds, that sort of thing. The best potions available at my current Alchemy skill level need stuff from this forest."
"Do you get XP from making potions?"
"Well... yes, you get skill XP. But not like, you know, level XP. That's still something you get for doing quests and killing monsters. No offense."
"None taken. So what's 'skill XP' good for?"
"It levels up the skill. In this case, lets me make better potions."
"Hm."
Typical. You sell your loyalty to a hero, and she isn't even looking to kill stuff. Oh well, you're sure there will be some killing once she's done collecting her things. You'll just help her with that, prove yourself a loyal and handy little caster, and then you can get some more bittersweet monster-XP.
This turns out to be really boring, though. Just long walks around the forest, Morwyn sometimes noticing something of interest and putting it in her inventory. A few times you manage to make yourself useful by spotting a plant before her, and those are the highlights of your search. It's rare though, since mostly she seems to know what she's doing.
After a while you get tired of looking around for plants and your eyes instead settle at her butt. Like most of her it is obnoxiously covered by her blue robe, but you can still tell from the outline that it's not that big. Pretty much proportional to the rest of her lean build. Quite shapely though. You wonder what she'd look like without that stupid robe on. Maybe you'll catch a glimpse when she gets some better clothing and goes to change...
...Why were you given a libido but no genitals? That was some cruel fucking design.
To break the monotony, you speak again. "Are there no monsters in this forest? Outside the ruins, that is."
"Yup," Morwyn replies. "I've seen a goblin camp and an old graveyard with some skellies, to name a couple. But in this part specifically there shouldn't be anything except for some critters. At least during the day. Stuff starts to appear when night falls."
Oh, great. Something to look forward to. Now if only you could tell how much time was left until dusk...
"My plan was to leave shortly before then. A full day of collecting ingredients should be enough, I thought. And now that we're almost done, I clearly had the right idea. Partly thanks to you, little guy."
...Dangit. The compliment felt nice, you had pretty much never experienced positive reinforcement, but... seriously? Had you managed to team up with a pacifist or something? Of course, no reason to jump to conclusions. Trying to break this agreement already would surely spell out your doom. This is probably just what heroes do in their spare time.
And so you spend the rest of the day inspecting Morwyn's butt. Occasionally glancing around for plants. But mostly the butt.
Do things go according to Morwyn's plan?

Game Monster
From Creep to Boss
You come into being as a low-level monster, the kind heroes chew through like popcorn. You know the drill, whether you're a player yourself or an artificial intelligence, and you're sick of it. You set out on your own quest: to defeat the heroes at any cost (or at least be an epic boss somewhere down the line).
