Chapter 2
by TheSpaceTurtle
What do you have in mind?
A quick trial.
Robin scratched his chin in thought, looking you over. He was obviously assessing you -- figuring out your strengths and weaknesses, what makes you tick. After a few careful moments of thought, Robin spoke.
"Ehh.. alright. Come with me," he said. "And don't try anything funny," Cyborg added, obviously not yet trusting of you (and not at all flattered by your presence). You nodded in response and began to ascend the rocky cliff face to the tower, following a few paces behind Robin and Cyborg.
As you reached the entrance to the tower, the door slid open automatically. You followed Cyborg and Robin in to a rather room with an elevator at the end. The door shut behind you just as the elevator doors opened. The three of you stepped inside and Robin pressed a button. Only a few moments later, the door slid open, yet again, to reveal a long hallway.
The three of you began to walk as Robin spoke. "Alright, we're going to put you through a little test here. If you do good, I guess we could let you tag along on a mission. If you do alright there, maybe you could join us, huh?"
You barely heard Cyborg grumble, "Yeah, right."
You were waved to a door. As you approached, it slid open automatically with a hiss, and just as soon closed behind you. The room was bright and large. It seemed to be a sort of training area. There were a few hatches with red stripes on them in the walls and more than a couple projectors on the ceilings.
Robin explained you'd be pitted against a few drones. The entire process would take only a few minutes, and he was right. Soon enough, you had destroyed a dozen drones without a scratch on you or your armor. Robin entered and let out a sharp whistle.
"Nice job. Near record time, too--" he was interrupted by a high pitched, whiny voice. "Pfft! Riight. Record time." You turned. A short boy with green skin was leaning in the corner. "For a newbie, maybe." The boy waved you over, grinning widely.
"I'm Beast Boy. Welcome to our house, bro. Follow me," he began to walk, and so did you. Quietly, you thought the whole process seemed a little too bureaucratic; the Titans were supposed to be immature and disorganized. After going up to the top of the tower (where the residences were), you were led to a guest room. He opened it up. "Here's where you're staying. If the alarm goes off, just go downstairs to the basement, 'kay?" Beast Boy said. You nodded.
"Have fun, dude -- I gotta go. Don't break anything," he said before turning. He began to jog down the hall, but soon shifted in to a large cat (perhaps a cougar) and sprinted around a corner and out of sight. You closed the door behind you and sat on the bed, pondering what to do. Obviously, everyone would be hanging out in the den; video games, food and television. Then again, it might be a good idea to walk around the tower and get your bearings. Maybe you would run in to someone.
What do you do?
