A not so silent visitor

You are sitting up in a tree over a path, when you hear someone talking to themself. “Find the girl, she says. Don’t get caught, she says. So what if some low level priestess doesn’t respawn.” Coming around a bend in the forest, was a hooded figure. Judging by his clothes he was some kind of rogue, possibly a thief. If that was so he should know better than to speak aloud when trying to sneak about. The monster’s in this forest were low level, not dumb. “This is barely a step above a tutorial zone anyway, what’s the worst that could happen to her?’ Well, last you saw said priestess, she was tied up in a cellar half covered with demon jizz. So you would say quite a bit. “Icy knight bitch. I shoulda just let her take that evidence to the city guard. I’d be more comfortable in prison.”
You’d be safer in prison, you think as you heft your knife. You wait for the thief to pass you by, then flick your wrist, sending the knife slicing through the air. It wasn’t your best throw. Instead of hitting the thief square in the back it strikes him lower, in the leg.
“Sonovabitch!” The thief goes down clutching his leg. Well, he knows you’re there know, so you drop out of the tree and brandish your sword. The thief rolls onto his knee, but doesn’t get up. You take a step forward but pause. Other than drawing a pair of knives the thief has done little else. You wonder why he hasn’t attacked when you noticed he was favoring the leg you hit. You had "Crippled" him. While under that condition his mobility was severely reduced, meaning he needed you to close for him to attack. Well that’s not going to happen.
Deciding to fight smarter, you proceed to throw your knife at him, again and again. It takes a while, your knife not the most potent weapon despite your recent level gains, but finally the thief was critically injured and bleeding out on the forest floor. He looks at you and gasps out, “she’s gonna kill me,” and fades from existence.
