A mediocre hand

As Heath dealt Bev her hand, she caught him checking her out. In truth, both Bev & Tony were as attractive as their 2 celebrity co-players. Tony was 5'11", & looked like your typical California surfer dude, complete with shaggy blonde hair, a muscular chest & a swimmer's fit body.

Bev was the 5'2" flower child to Tony's surfer image. She was very curvaceous (wearing a 32C bra), & kept her thick, dark hair to the middle of her back. As Heath dealt her a hand, she got:

5 of spades.

Not a great hand, but not a totally lousy hand either. At least she had a pair of 9s, which by themselves should keep her from being the low hand this round. On the other hand, she was really tempted to discard 1 of them. She knew drawing to an inside straight was always a bad idea. But this time, her intuition told her it would pay off.
