A long line

Brohole Post was a new outpost build recently through joint effort of the adventurers guild and a local minor noble, in an attempt to have both a closer rendezvous place to the newly found dungeons and to establish another small fortress closer to the border with the nearby kingdom.

Such joint effort was indeed a success on all sides as the adventurers had a proper place to rest, trade and have fun, whereas the local army could easily be dispatched should the need arise... not even mentioning how many spies were actually caught in passing, or so our group heard by a nearby merchant while waiting to pass through the town's gates.

It was in fact already past noon when they reached Brohole Post, half a day later than expected due to Ryu slowing them down, and awaiting for them wasn't an open gate letting anyone easily pass by... no, in fact rather than a free passage, they found themselves in line to get checked before being allowed in, and while waiting for their turn to come Nia's cheerfulness got her hooked with a nearby merchant, talking about this and that and explaining some issues about their current predicament.

Apparently there was a 24/7 watch on the gates for anyone walking in and sometimes out too, the guards requiring close inspection of everything that passed through be it items or people. Anyone suspicious would be taken in as a spy.
If that wasn't bad enough, crossing the guards would achieve the same effect, so no matter what happened during the checks one should just shut up and endure if they didn't wish to end up in trouble. The merchant even joked about it, saying that "What happens in the guardroom, stays in the guardroom" and that they'll understand what it means soon enough.

If there was any good news about this, it was that nightly checks were apparently much more throughout than those during the day, so they shouldn't be too troubled when it was their turn.

While making such small chatters time passed by quite fast, and eventually it was their turn for the check.

The main gates was only for the cargo and armies to pass by, so the group walked towards a side entrance before being led through the side doors... to be precise, the group was split by gender, the guards attending to them leading Ryu into a door while the girls had to walk through another one.
