Round 1, Match 7
A hard-fought victory
The ringing of the bell was still in the air when Jean came sprinting at you, analyzing her posture you saw she was going for an overhead strike, an aggressive move which would leave her lower body defenseless. So you assumed a defensive stance, planning to move to the side and strike at her waist. A moment later her axe came rushing down at you and you did exactly what you planned.
Despite your clean hit she turned toward you with her axe approaching from the horizontally. You had barely enough time to dodge and reposition with a bit more distance.
You really didn't want to get hit by that thing, but you might not have a choice if she was going to take attacks like that without even flinching. This time you approached, feigning a vertical strike, then moving past her and striking her back. Once again, no reaction. You regained some distance and looked at your Infotracker.
Her aura bar had barely moved! Does she just have a shit-ton of aura or is this somehow connected to her semblance?
You didn't know her very well and school records didn't list anything like that, but rumors claimed she could train in the gym for hours on end and not even strain her muscles.
This suggested that her Aura was plentiful enough to continually regenerate her muscles, but even the teachers had to stop earlier than her.
Looking at your screen again, you saw that even the little damage you had done has vanished again. This confirmed your suspicions, she could regenerate her aura, even while fighting. Now, how were you going to beat that?
Really the only answer was rushing her down and doing more damage than she could heal, the issue was not getting knocked into next week by her axe at the same time. So you approached again, with strike after strike trying to figure out her pattern, before she figured out yours. Every once in a while you looked down at your screen and sure enough you were making progress, just not as much as you'd like. Soon you noticed a lack of defense on her left side, which you assumed to be her non-dominant hand. So you started attacking on her right, trying to plant a false sense of security, while also keeping your own defenses up. After a few minutes of that you had taken your first hit, you were surprised it took her so long, and decided it was time to turn this around. She was shocked when you suddenly targeted her left side and even used Infotracker (which you had reinforced for this purpose) to block her axe and stab her side directly. Sure enough her aura approached the red while you were still above fifty percent. You capitalized on this and didn't let her rest, switching up your target every few strikes, trying to be as unpredictable as you were relentless. About 5 minutes later her aura fizzled out in dark red sparks and you knew you had won.
The crowd broke out into applause and cheering, no one had expected the underdog to win even one round, but almost everyone was excited by the implications it had. One of the top contenders, out in round one? Even the referee seemed like he was caught off guard, as he had stumbled over his words when announcing you as the winner of the match.
You walked back to the locker room, greeted by your male co-competitors in a hail of fist-bumps, high-fives and shoulder-slaps.
After getting out of the shower you noticed one of the more muscular students playing around with your Infotracker, which was locked with a password of course. "Cut it out, that thing is important" you told him while approaching. "Oh, yeah? You gonna dance around me like you did with Jean?" he said. You sighed, even when beating one of the strongest students, bullies would still act like they were tough shit. So you ignored him, sat down on a bench and scrolled through the newsfeed on your scroll. Bored by your lack of reaction, and because it wasn't a can of beer, the guy tossed the bracer to the ground in front of you and left, but not without sneering, "If it's so important to you, why don't you put your name on it?". While it seemed like an incredibly stupid suggestion, you realized that it would probably come in handy if you ever lost Infotracker.
So you adjusted the screensaver by adding a note in the corner of the screen that read "Property of Eugene Bluebeard", and added a virtual signature to make it look more important. While you were at it, you also set it up to send it's GPS data to your scroll so you could find it if necessary.
The last match of the round was rather uneventful and you somehow doubted you'd any problems facing it's winner.
You spent the break continuing your research by going over the recordings of the other contestants, now only 7 instead of 15, and soon enough round 2 started.

This time you'd be in the 4th and last match of the round which meant you'd probably get to watch Caitlin and Lila dominate their opponents once again.
What happens in round 2?
