A fond farewell

You dismiss your character menu, then suppress a curse of realization and turn to Lyrissa. "As much as I enjoy your company, I seem to recall some quests having a limited amount of time to turn in upon completion. I don't want to be the cause of a failed quest on your part."

"What, that eager to get rid of me?" She's trying for teasing, obviously, but sounds faintly worried as she pulls up her quest log. Her response upon viewing it is melodic and poetic, but you suspect that if you could understand elvish you'd be highly embarrassed.

"Okay, two days and ten hours. I've got time," is her response upon calming. "But it's a day and a half to Evergreen from here. I'll need to set out near immediately. Of course, I wouldn't mind the company if you'd care to company me as far as the road." She's got a hint of a grin with that last statement.

"What, leave a lovely lady alone in this area? Why, there are rumors of a necromancer about!" You do your best to sound earnest and serious, but can't hold it for long and you both start laughing. "More seriously, I'd be delighted to. I'm not sure how far I can go from my lair- previously I was restricted to about a brisk thirty minute walk, but the road is well within that distance."

You both stand and head to the first floor and out the door After ten minutes of comfortable silence, Lyrissa breaks it. "Oh, right. Two things before we part. First, bossloot. You've probably never defeated a boss before, so I'll give you the basics. You can choose between three items, but can't trade them, so get something you think will be useful for you for quite a while, not something you think will be useful for your friends."

You nod thoughtfully. Useful to know. You had been considering what to do if you got something that wasn't useful to you. It sounded like that wasn't exactly possible. You were bound to get something useful, even if not immensely. Of course, that was only the first thing she had on her mind.

"Second," she continues seeing your nod, "Would you like to be my Friend?"

You can hear the capital letter there, but are replying before the popup even finishes materializing. "I assuredly would. Thank you." The popup closes immediately and is replaced with another.

Huh. That's... a thing. You suppose that if you can Party and Trade between NPCs and Players, it makes sense that Friends Lists worked between them as well. You're only vaguely aware of how the Friends List works, but that's enough to get you started. You lapse back into comfortable silence for the rest of the trip.

You reach the road and Lyrissa stops and looks at you. "Now, before we part ways and you try and figure out what loot you got from the boss," The tips of her ears are starting to turn pink. You've never interacted with elves much, but watching them blush from their ears down is kind of pretty. "I have something to give you..."
